@Short pitch ball - a correct delevery in the spirit of the game
by rama anne on Jan 15, 2012 04:24 PM  | Hide replies

why unpires keep quiete ?
---
what is the imit of such balls?
---
what is the intention - delevered like any ball or just directed at batsmans body ?
---
can a bowler bowl such balls whenver he fancies?
----
I feel short pitched are intentionally misued to rattle the batsman at the crease or get am edge at the upper handle and bat area deliberately?

so legally the delivery is not a throw but techically not genuine bowl at all ?

they say CRICKET is non contact sport and I assume bowling requires certain degree of skill

so is A short PITCED DELIVERY - a skilled delivery ?
well intended?

or it is just a weapon to get the wicket ?
---
will it give undue advantage to a tall person
without any skill reqyured but brute force with strong arms ?
--
I understand if BASKET BALL ,skill is required in putting ball into the basket at a height ,so tall people gain some advantage in terms of height ,yet require skill as well
---
not sure what skill is required in delevring the short pitched cricket ball if at all any ?

so why not short pitched ball be reviewed by the ICC?
---
THE Aussie and enhlish cleveraly make that as if some fun by saying indian batsmen cannot play short pitched ball ?

but what is the limit of such a short potched ball ?is the larger question to ask

I know west indies used to bowl in some measure prev
now a days - english ,aussies and south africans etc are doing it regularly
---
I feel that such a ball just sailing at shoulder height does not need any batting skill either

@Review short pitced deleveries

Muthaih murali jeered and asked to get his bowling action reviewed?
----
why not ICC review aussie siddle short pitched ball (the ball is just delevered to rattle the batsmam at crease or get a wicket)

so a short pitched ball is technically like a thrown cricket ball equivalent ?

absolutley no skill required ? only brute force to bang onto pitch with strong arms ?

so why not review such short pitched deleveries ?

Thta's what is Cricket all about my friend. Gavaskar is that way way way better than SRT because he knew how to handle the greats like ROberts Holding Marshall without helmet.

@Short pitched deleveries - ICC frame rules
by rama anne on Jan 15, 2012 04:01 PM  | Hide replies

sport
---
should use and display sports person skill and abilities
------
same way - a fast bowler can use pace with swing and variation like yorkers ,leg cutters and outswinger and inswingers etc

But the way aussie bowlers like siddle and co used SHORT pitched deleveries to dismiss
at perth second Innings of India
especially
Gamvhir
Zaheer
Ishant
Vinay kumar etc are all short pitced deleveries intentionall banged onto pitch and they were almost shoulder height and directed straight at the BATSMEN

so question is
---
most sub continent batsmen short in height
most aussie ,english ,south african bowlers tall in height

so will it not give undue physical advantage to the bowlers ?

also the bowler can just banh onto pitch at high speed and generate such a ball whenever he fancies a wicket or just rattle the batsman at the crease?

if MUTHAIH MURALI has bowling action reviewed by ICC?

question is why not review the issue of short pitced deleveries ?

also why not
BCCI ,Paj cric board ,sri lankan ,bangladesh board all join together and ask ICC to review these sorts of balls and put a cap or let bowler dislose by some sort of signal before delivery that he is about to deliver such a ball

I feel the balls directed at Indian batsmen that are short pitc were quiete ugly and delevred with speed and banged on the pitch

I feel such deleveries do not deserve any wickets at all

this is ridiculous thinking ..in old era there was no helmet and also no restriction in no.s of bouncer in a over..this is the reason why imran like players call Sunil Gavaskar greater than SRT..which is quite true

The era is different
that is what is also the point
---
ther was no twenty 20
no DRS system
--
also those days - only one Imran Khan ,one Kapil dev ,one hadlee ,one Botham were part of the teams as far as Fast bowling is concerned

except west indies - ambrose ,walsh etc

---
But these days
---
there are 4 Pace bowlers in every
AUSSIE team
English team
South Africa team as well

so if all 4 pace bowlers start SHORT PITCHED DELEVRIES AIMED at batsman body by just banging the pitch -
to rattle a batsman
to break partnership
to get a wicket

what is the intention behind such delevery ?

please just not dismiss - let us debate properly
Gavaskar batting without helmet is irrelavent to this topic

just take a pause and think my friend
-----
every team these days has Four pace bowlers
--
aussies
english
south africans

Also what is the intention ,when one bowls a short pitched ball - to rattle the batsman,to break the partnership ,to get a wicket

just think a bit and also see footage of India vs Aus - perth second innings (INDIA Batting)
see gambhir
ishanth
zaheer
vinay kumar
how they were OUT

they make pitch for bowler not batsman friendly pitch. they know great player like sachin sehwag dravid laxman dhoni can destroy them on flat pitch so they make pitch for bowler because they know indian bowling attack weak

Re: shame on australia
by rama anne on Jan 15, 2012 04:07 PM
well I do not think making pitches is a problem
------
problem why suddle like bowler whenever he wants just bang with speed and generate short pitcged balls
--
Gambhir - on the bat handle feet above ground
Ishant - struck on his left side arm pit lenhyj
Zaheer - above his head height
--------------------
so any one who is tall and has strong arms just bang the ball and generate short piyched balls ?

quesyion is
---
does that mean whenever suddle wants a short pitced ball he can just bowl ?

I feel short pitched ball is ugly without any skill and not correct

It is as if some is throwing a cricket ball ?

so will BCCI and other cric boards have guts to take with ICC and ask to re look at the rules of short potched deleveries ?

I do not know
why sri lankans, pakis etc do not raise the issue ?
------------
I mean there nust be a limit to height when aimed at the batsmen ?

instead the aussies are celebrating it as Indian batsmen cannot play short pitched deleveries
---
I mean the one that
Zaheer ,Ishant and Gambhir got are very ugly and seem to be directed straight at their bodies
It does not seem right to me

This is what Dhoni would say after losing 4-0 to bangladesh
by caeser b on Jan 15, 2012 03:02 PM

The Pitches in Bangladesh have suddenly turned green. It didnt suit our batsmen who were taken by suprise. We were not able to adapt to the swing and bounce their bowlers generated. They also surprised us by their four pronged fast bowling attack ,they were just too fast for us.Our bowlers did the job in getting them out once but batsmen failed miserably.Hope we get some flat wickets for the next series in Ireland so that our batsman can do well there.
