good is this Aussie team on turning tracks? If Indian team is a flat track bully foriegn teams are also no different. Shall we call them 'Grassy track bulls'. Seriously, India should play its domestic cricket on seaming grassy tracks. But when teams come visiting, we should play them on turning tracks at test venues and highlight their inadequacies.

True, but we should stop calling ourselves #1 team if we cant play on all surfaces.

Thats why I said ,play domestic cricket on grassy tracks. Since we play spin well naturally , we will shape up better in both conditions(getting used to seaming tracks in domestic cricket).

Ban Players from Advertising & media
by Captain K on Jan 08, 2012 01:00 PM  | Hide replies

Players should be banned from advertising & media, if they are playing an offical game. They can do ads & other media content, if they are not playing. Their complete focus should be on the game & not on anything else. Also the old 3. Tendulkar, dravid & laxman failed in australia uptill now. Their place should also not be secured & selectors should only judge them on performance. They should be also dropped, if not performed well. At least India should have given a good fight, instead of just surrendering.

Free Advice!
by Biswajyoti Borkakoty on Jan 08, 2012 12:59 PM

India is a country where everyone delights in giving free unwarranted advice.
So, here is my free advice to team India each and every player:

Watch videos of your greatest innings over and over again to get back your positive frame of mind. i.e Sehwag watching his double century record of ODI or his triple ton innings of his test career or VVS watching the way he scored his double century against the Aussies... With positive frame of mind the kookaburra ball can be tackled in the hard wickets and windy condition of Australia.

Why practice sessions?
by ghenda on Jan 08, 2012 12:53 PM

As it is our players are playing cricket every alternate day, do they really need practice?

Instead of commenting about seniors like Sachin, VVS Laxman or Dravid, let the thinkers analyse the performance of youngsters like Kohli, Ishant and Umesh. It is just not the failure of the batsmen but bowlers also.

It's a devils' world...
by K Ram on Jan 08, 2012 12:22 PM  | Hide replies

I can understand and digest a Gavaskar or M. Amarnath commenting on VVS Laxman. But, A Gaekwad with a test batting average of 30, one S. Manjrekar with an average of 37 and another gentleman K. More with an average of 25 are commenting on VVS who has a healthy average of 46.5 with 17 centuries and 56 fifties to his credit is untolerable. It's said, "an idle mind is the workshop of devils" and these idle minds with vested interests are trying their best to end someone's career and to build someone else's. Poor them! VVS must have seen this many times before... being made a scapegoat when things go wrong for the team and never given the kind of accolades he deserved when he saved the team from a crisis. He's the most hapless, unsung hero of Indian cricket. I only wish at least his state government (AP) showers him fittingly as and when he retires and honours him in the best possible manner. I do not see BCCI doing it anyway.

I agree Ram. I think Sanjay Manjrekar, K. more and A.Gaekwsd do not deserve to talk about other batsmen in public... they havent ever played one innings wortj the salt that one can remember. Compared to that VVS has played quite a many match winning/ saving knocks... Non performers in my opinion should keep quiet and not make public statements about others....

K Ram, if something is correct then it is correct whoever says it and if something is wrong it is wrong whoever is saying it...If gavaskar says something and it is correct then gaekwad saying the samething is also correct. if gaekward says something which is wrong then it is wrong if even gavaskar says it...

similarly if you think gaekwad has no right to talk about vvs because vvs average more than him then u also dont have any right to speak about raina, kohli, rohit, badri, murali vijay etc. as their average is more than u...probably you have not even played cricket...

K Ram, gaekwad has MORE right to talk about vvs than YOU have a right to talk about kohli raina etc. of course that does not necessarily mean that whatever gaekwad is says is always correct and whatever you say is always wrong...

I agree that, right is right & wrong is wrong whosoever says it.The question is not about the last two years of your career, its about ur attitude & approach which most of the seniormost players are lacking, may itbe rahul/vvs.Everone including Gavaskar has the right to ask about skipping practice sessions when ur history says u r vulnerable in these conditions. They need to be serious & responsible.

Batting is not clicking due to Sachin's 100th Ton
by Rajesh on Jan 08, 2012 12:09 PM  | Hide replies

I feel that all Indian batsmen have decided that they are not going to score century till Sachin completes his 100th ton. As everyone is pretty much aligned in their mind on the fact that personal milestones are much more important then winning or losing a game.

Australians also try to avoid crossing Don Bradman's Triple Century of 334. But that was because of their attitude that "Team comes first". Michael Clarke had ample time to score 400 but due to respect to Bradman & because he wanted to win, he avoided crossing the mark of 334.

So till the time Sachin completes his most important job till now of reaching to 100th ton. He will keep loosing.

Great work Indian Team, We all are very proud of you.

Rajesh

The only solution is to ....
by Face Dude on Jan 08, 2012 11:33 AM

Separate One day and T20 team from test team. There cannot be players playing in both the formats at the same time. It is apparent how the Indians got out in second innings when one big wicket fell. Two or three wickets fell successively due to rash shots. Also lapse in concentration after putting up a decent total is also due to the perils of one day cricket. Whats the need for laxman to score quickly on day 4? Tendulkar got out to a mediocre delivery mainly because of lack of concentration... In test cricket its the temperament - like sunny gavaskar possessed - thats crucial. Tendulkar is in that mould and so is Dravid, but mixing up one days and test cricket just kills their ability to focus... so much seems lacking when there a quality bowling attack has to be faced for a sustained period of time (i.e without any time limits..)

How the opponents do.. thats probably because they also have good bowling attack and another area which is lacking for India. Any ideas?
