What a shame!
by debasis dasgupta on Jan 07, 2012 12:16 PM

What our captain is doing? He does not have any control over the players. It is shame that even after loosing the match they are not serious enough to do some pratice. Time has come to make changes which includes captain also for the pride of our country.

Separate One day and T20 team from test team. There cannot be players playing in both the formats at the same time. It is apparent how the Indians got out in second innings when one big wicket fell. Two or three wickets fell successively due to rash shots. Also lapse in concentration after putting up a decent total is also due to the perils of one day cricket. Whats the need for laxman to score quickly on day 4? Tendulkar got out to a mediocre delivery mainly because of lack of concentration... In test cricket its the temperament - like sunny gavaskar possessed - thats crucial. Tendulkar is in that mould and so is Dravid, but mixing up one days and test cricket just kills their ability to focus... so much seems lacking when there a quality bowling attack has to be faced for a sustained period of time (i.e without any time limits..)

How the opponents do.. thats probably because they also have good bowling attack and another area which is lacking for India. Any ideas?

We will not worry about loosing to Aussies Even All test matches, as we have already planned for Home series against weak teams in coming days where our so called Heros ,Back up or so called bench strength will shine and shine ....it will take another away series to understand reality which again we will keep discussing .let us not become another Zimbabwe in coming days

once selected they all take their positions for granted and perform once in a while..no one is seriously playing for the country. It is high time new replacements are introduced so that new comers get a chance to show their skills. the cricket team should be told either to perform or perish..

Whatever maybe the reason
by RSS on Jan 07, 2012 11:54 AM  | Hide replies

We have to accept that Australia have played well and deserved to Win, and India deserved to lose based on their performance.

I am expecting the last 2 tests to last for only 3 days as it will become even more difficult to draw a Test match for India in Australia.

Stand up or perish
by vicky on Jan 07, 2012 11:49 AM  | Hide replies

Gavaskar is right in his comments. The players are on a holiday to Australia and not to play some serious cricket. It is understandable that if they won a test, they have taken some time off. But losing so badly and still not focussing harder in the practise sessions to overcome their shortcomings definitely shows the lack of seriousness in this team. Winning and losing is part of the game, but losing without a fight is just not pardonable. Its time they focussed hard on the game and try to win atleast one test from here on. Else, the selectors should take some harsh decisions based on the performances and not to spare anyone for bad display, including the captain. Stand up or perish !

The guys like Tendulkar, Dhoni, Viru,Ashwin, etc have gone with their wives! The others were busy sightseeing & partying. The pics were splashed across the media!

Nothing wrong if they take their wives with them. Young players should see that countries people and place and compare with us. Nothing wrong with that.
BUT YOU HAVE TO PERFORM

Pitches in India
by Donna Alex on Jan 07, 2012 11:45 AM  | Hide replies

For crying out loud, enough about complaining about the number of tour matches/practice games! The fundamental fact is that the pitches in India have to match the International standards, so start thinking about doing something to them!!!Why is this difficult for anyone to understand this basic fact?

what do u mean by international, 4 test playing nations have similar pitches. Does it mean others should make pitches like subcontinent? I am of the view different type of pitches in different locations make test cricket interesting, anyhow it doesnt matter much in the shorter formats.

What is the meaning of international standard? Preparing bouncy pitches is standard and preparing spinner tracks is not? I would say preparing only bouncy and pacy wickets is also not a standard. Standard wicket means, there should be something for batsmen, something for pace bowlers and something for spinners. Missing any one of these three means they are prepared for home team advantage. Every country prepares pitches for home advantage. Can Aussies dare to prepare a spinners track when playing India? I bet they can just not dare. The same goes with any other country.
