Importance Of England Tour
by prasad joshi on Jan 05, 2012 01:55 PM  | Hide replies

England tour showed us true lions and cats in Indian Team.Dravid was the only Lion!!!The Darling of India-Sachin was at the most a purring cat.A big Meow once and that too at a batting conducive pitch and then Silence!!!Sachin is a very disciplined, sincere player but he simply lacks the born merit or potential to go beyond that!!!Dravid was the only one!!!That too after a successful testing tour of West Indies!!!Hope we start hero worshipping and start calibrating our gauge again!!

Rightly said Joshi!! And when Dravid fails, we saw what happed in MCG 2nd innings & SCG 1st innings. As a Dravid fan, I hope that his failure in the 2nd innigns does not hurt Indian much.

Indian batsmen hold more records due to batting pitches
by nirmalya thakurta on Jan 05, 2012 01:53 PM

Since ages we know Indians cannot play well in Australia, SA, WI (when they had a decent team) or England. Still we have big batting names who are holders of lots of batting records.
Only explanation can be our batting Gods get the full advantage of the dead pitches in our country unlike the foreign players also our players never think of retirement till they are pushed out with or without humiliation.
Else there is no reason to accept that our batsmen are better than Aussie, SA or England batsmen even though they have much better records on paper.

Ganguly was the best
by KALYAN MITRA on Jan 05, 2012 01:50 PM  | Hide replies

For last couple of years I am saying again & again that it is not Dhoni but Ganguly is the best captain India ever had.

However India's worst captain was Dravid & Tendulkar probably.

Now Mr.Waugh has agreed too.

Dhoni is a great statesman but Ganguly knew how to get under the skin of opposition....which is particularly required to intimidate the Aussies

Dravid has away series wins in Eng and WI, which Ganguly never had. Also, first win in SA and Pak were in his captaincy. So, how does he become India's worst captain? An added fact, remember when Dravid won series abroad, Ganguly and Sehwag were in the poor phase of their careers and were still retained as members of team. Whereas when Ganguly as captain won matches (not series) abroad, Dravid was at his career's peak. Dravid scored at an average of 95 in matches won under Ganguly's captaincy.

by vibhavari pandhare on Jan 05, 2012 01:48 PM

U have to agree - the batting lacks aplication - bowling is mediocre - good only in patches.
Compare this to last time when Ihsant, R P Singh and others really tormented the batsmen

sack the old players
by sai krishna on Jan 05, 2012 01:39 PM  | Hide replies

It is better get rid of the old players from the team. Laxman, Dravid, Tendulkar with more than 300 tests experience, if they not able to score runs. It is better to change them. Whatever the trio have achieved are History. We lost pathetically in England and we are in course of doing it in Australia as well. Losing a series is not a problem let us loss with new players give chance to younger players so that they could gain some experience outside India. Persisting with these oldies lossing series after series will not help anybody.

The old players have seen it all - they seem to be immune to criticism - atleast younger players will play for pride

Totally agree with waugh.. pathetic and unthinkable captaincy... ucant wait 4 thins to happen.. new zeland defeated aussies with their innovative field placings and aggressive captaincy... its sad tht we cant even hear positive criticism of our indian players... what is bad,, is bad.... wishin all the best to india for next 2 days.. but even if they salvage a draw nw,, it wud be individual players and not due to brilliant captaincy...

even I agree with his statement. Defensive captaincy by Dhoni cost us everything in this match. If Dada is present, then it will be different. We really miss Dada for sure. any how best of luck for Indians if they drew this match and win next two matches. Let us hope for the best.

What does Waught knows about cricket. He was himself good only in Aus. Outside he was very ordinary. Likewise even the Aussie team. They are good at home & very very bad outside specially in Asia. So how come he can comment on India's status. Everyone wins at home. But India are unbeatable at Home. Abroad also they have done well except for Eng. & this tour. But still two tests to go & full one day tri series to come. So hence Mark wait & watch. U have to swallow your own words. Aus. are now just an ordinary team. Even in the past too they were the same. Win & home Max. & loose abroad as many. Records will prove that.

FYI Mark Waugh has a match winning 153 at Bangalore in 1998. He has 100s in other countries as well. What about Hayden, S Waugh, Gilly & Martyn? Just don't make statements for the sake of making. Either you do not follow cricket other than Indian team or you have forgotten the past records. Australia have won 16 in a row twice in the 2000s. This included home and away.
