It's a mistake
by Raj Thakre on Feb 15, 2012 11:11 AM  | Hide replies

By on field umpires and third umpire and they should be punished or at least reprimanded for the same. It would not have mattered on the result. It could have gone either side or still a tie. It was Dhoni who is trying to practice batting and hits only when it goes out of hand. 230 runs were very much chasable easily, but we made a mess of it.

by MONICA on Feb 15, 2012 11:06 AM

srilanka played 50 overs: 300balls
india played 50 overs: 299balls (30th over was made for 5balls)

THIS IS THE BIGGEST DISSIMILARITY IN SIMILARITY(BOTH PLAYED 50OVER BUT NOT sameBALLS)EVER IN CRICKET HYSTORY

Looking into the flow of Indian Batting in that particular over, it has definitely hampered India's Chances.

why don't you join selectors...
You might not done .001% in your own field where you are in comparison to the person you are judging

india cud win the match-30thOver was counted for only 5Balls
by MONICA on Feb 15, 2012 10:59 AM  | Hide replies

yes, india cud win this match rather tie, its total 4 umpere fault, may be intentionally or unintentionally but where is the use of technology! they counted 30th over wrongly for 5balls , not 6!
with 1ball addition, india cud win this match, when only 1 run was needed!

just like the players are presented with a penalty for any mistake the umpire should be given equal or more penalty since the winning team has lost points in points table.

Interesting Stats
by Saquib Khan on Feb 15, 2012 10:38 AM  | Hide replies

Interestingly, as Mohandas Menon pointed out on Twitter: 'First time both teams have scored same number of runs, lost same no of wkts, faced same no of overs, same no of extras, same no of 4s & 6s!'
The two teams even had the same number of maiden overs: 2.

To add to these stats, there was one more similarity:
From both sides (15 fours and 2 sixes had been hit yesterday) one batsman hit 6 fours, one 3 fours, two got 2 boundaries and two hit 1 four each. Apart from this 2 batsmen hit 1 six each as well. Is this a coincidence...So many coincidence in one tied match ???

To add to these interesting stats, one more coincidence...both teams had lost their 5th and 6th wicket at same scores 178 and 184 respectively...
Also, both teams lost their 9th wicket at 49.5 overs......wowwwww
