I agree with you if its said till his 50th match or so, now he looks like a L board in cricket swinging bat rarely and playing one days as test cricket. His batting skills would have been respobsible for 2 straight losses if any slight error from other batsman. He didnt save it but other batsman who scored above 90? cant u notice them.

guru ---if this is your level of knowledge of the best ODI player Dhoni --then change your name to Gadha.
Whatever we say about dhoni in tests, his odi performances have been impeccable. His records shows it and those are not mere records, but facts. His average of 102 in successful chases for india over 49 odi's is not something which has been granted to him. He has eearned every bit of it. Well done dhoni.

Having made a recovery after 4 down for just 117, it seems like that leaving things in the end was not the right thing.
The best way approach inspite of Gambhir's run out was to not take too many singles. Singles under pressure are risky and running slows down after staying at the crease for too long.
In addition to that, the pressure can result in runouts as well. Jadeja, Irfan and Ashwin were up against an asking rate too high to make them as effective finishers.
Dhoni, will typically look for the excuse to take singles and slow things down. Under pressure you are bound to make the wrong call once in a while, and that cost a few key run outs in the end.
Even if you lose a wicket, you need to score at a rate where you do not leave too much for Jadeja, Irfan and Ashwin to finish the match.
