SRIDHAR RAGHUNATHARAO
DHONI'S RESPONSIBLE PLAYING
by SRIDHAR RAGHUNATHARAO on Feb 15, 2012 09:35 AM

Skipper Dhoni has played with lot of responsibility and cool both during yesterday's match and our 4 wickets win against Australia. Those who were commenting about his performance would have been now satisfied. But, Sachin is continues to be under stress. Would it be better if he could be rested and chance given to other youngsters who are waiting ? Sachin may perhaps be more remembered by his 99 centuries than hundred centuries.

Tricky Situation
by Ashok Kumar on Feb 15, 2012 09:12 AM

As per the rotation policy, gambir would have to sit out for a game next. But he has been the consistent score in the last 2 matches with 2 90 plus innings. Will India still opt for Sehwag for the next game or ask SRT/Viru to sit out will be interesting to watch.

BEST TEAM FOR REMAINING MATCHES.
by Srinivasan Renganathan on Feb 14, 2012 10:05 PM

1.      Sachin Tendulkar (VS Australia) or Sewhag (VS Sri Lanka).
2.      Gautham Gambhir.
3.      Virat Kohli (Aus) or Rohit Sharma (Sri Lanka)..
4.      Suresh Raina (Aus) or Manoj Tiwari (Sri Lanka).
5.      Ravindra Jadeja.
6.      M.S.Dhoni.
7.      Irfan Pathan.
8.      R.Ashwin.
9.      Vinay Kumar.
10.      Rahul Sharma.
11.      Umesh Yadhav.
If Players are rotated based on the opposition and kind of pitches and not just for the sake of just roatation, this Indian team can win most of the matches against both Sri Lanka and Australia.
Sewhag should not be exposed against Australia (at least in Australian Pitches). If 5 main line bowlers are selected, India can contain the opposition/have more flexibility, provided the batsman at the top does not play rash shots, particularly against the Australians.
It’s the singles that wins ODI matches. If, Kohli, Raina and Jadeja are playing at the top bewtween the 20th and 40th Overs, where more singles can be taken, India can definitely win at ease rather than boiling it up to the end as in the last two matches which is unnecessary.

Funny! Folks here drop terms like match-finishing, high strike-rate & bowling-at-the-death like these are routine & easy skills to acquire. Anyone who’s played even maidan cricket would tell you that the whole thing’s a lottery if it comes down to the wire the way it has in the last couple of matches featuring India. Some days one gets away with it & in some others one does not. This Indian team did show tremendous spirit & fought it out till the end. Such an attitude if displayed consistently is bound to win you more matches in the long run. India is at the top of the points table & peaking at the right time. In the league stages, that’s more than enough. Considering how down and out they were just a few weeks ago, this transformation is something that should be appreciated by every genuine fan of Team India.
