hehe. Poor pseudo. He is in the line of attack. I haven't figured out if his love for fair skin is bigger or love for SRT. But you know we are all people finally. Stuff like this happens.

There is no need to BS about SRT. Talk about the other seniors who are not playing. If SRT stops playing, it makes sense. There is no need to be rude. I am still prepared to throw my weight behind SRT. Don't get personal guys. Please be decent.
Re: Re: Re: trio

hehe. SRT failed in england and dravid did very well. SRT did marginally well in Aus and Dravid did poorly. So SRT is playing well argument does not work. We are past that BS. It is time all 3 are phased out. whether fans like it or not. Pl be rational and see what is right for the country and not for your favorite player.
Re: trio

There is no need to get personal. Keep SRT out of it as he is the only one who is still playing. Talk about your so called YOUNGSTERS who aren't playing. Take Pseudo's name with respect.

first people to be booted should be very very selfish laxman and lapebaaj loud mouth galli cricketer sehwag and traitor gambhir who faked injury on england tour to rest and serve his ipl masters well along with captain fool dhoni... all these should be kicked out forever like bhajji... as for dravid he should be given a series or more so to retire and sachin can play another year or two of test cricket only... for his own good sachin should retire from 1-dayers immediately...

Dear Solid Singh, You said what the users in the rediff chat forum have been observing for years....
We have sehwag and gambir alongwith kohli can make the team, and the youngsters can boost fresh bit of confidence. Morever the home series is what we will see now. I think this will give enough confidence to our juniors. We dont need this trio, or atleast we dont need sahin and laxman.

lappebaj sehwag should be kicked out to play his style of cricket in gallis of najafgarh... and so should be traitor gambhir who faked injury on england tour to rest so that he can serve his ipl master dogz khan well... another needing a kickout is very very selfish laxman... his time was up long ago... trio of gambhir/laxman/sehwag are like termites... sooner indian team is rid of these better it will be...
One has to be a little careful in making sweeping statements like removal of seniors and replacement by juniors in overseas test cricket. If one really comes to look at it,the so called trio of senior cricketers, Rahul Dravid scored 3 test centuries in England completed his 13000 runs against west indies and was the highest run getter in 2011. Sachin Tendulkar had also good scores in the 2011 though not prolific by his standards. Hence it is ridiculous to compare a Manoj Tiwari with a Rahul Dravid or a Sachin Tendulkar. During the last decade, coming to think of it, there were many players who had come and gone but never were able to make the test cricket grade. Hadlee is right when he feels this proven trio has still sometime and it is best left to them to announce their own retirements. Meantime it could be a good idea to keep players like Sehwag and Gambhir under the lens and drop them if need be on grounds of under performance so that they don't take their places in the playing eleven for granted.

Ray, no one should take his place for granted. if u see most of our good performances in tests, it is 2 out of the 3 seniors who have chipped in with good performance complimented by the others (including bowling), or some big innings from Sehwag with other batsmen chipping in with good scores. From the last 2 series, frankly tell me do u think Laxman was even a shadow of his old image? No..... Reflexes were terribly slow, zero footwork and looked more like a tail ender. Sachin was no different in Eng, Dravid was no different in Aus.

I do agree with you on the lack lustre performance of VVS. Although like many others am a die hard fan of his. My point is with the legacy behind a Sachin Tendulkar or a Rahul Dravid, it is impossible to count them out with one bad series. It has been the disastrous failure of the opening partnership who hardly made any contribution in the last series. While Gambhir played in patches Sehwag was a dismal failure. The way he handled pace did not send a message to aspiring cricketers to take note of as a feat to be emulated. It's these players like Sehwag and Gambhir who have to perform now if India has to entertain any hope of a comeback in test cricket. And it would hence be prudent to tell these guys perform or perish.

I agree with you. I am also of the opinion that if the opening pair came good atleast in 1 match, things would have been better. In the last 13 tests after the WC highest opening partnership is 89 that too against West Indies. I was wondering if it is a good idea if Sehwag comes down the order.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Eye on Details.
by SUBROTO RAY on Feb 11, 2012 07:09 PM
Perhaps it is. You may be right. Sehwag's style of cricket doesn't suit overseas conditions as a test opener. Virender himself should try and adopt himself as a middle order batsman. But he has to work on his test cricket technique although he has two triple centuries to his credi as an opener. Overseas wickets In England and Australia are a different ball game altogether.

yes better let the oldies play till they become grand father atleast. Same like our parliament... and falsly we say give chances to new peerhiiiii
India can afford to lose all three at the same time. it wont make the least bit of difference. youngsters will be as bad as them at worse or much better. they certainly wont be worse compared to the seniors.
With the stalwarts very much present, Indian team lost the series in England 4-0, didn't exactly set Indian stadia on fire with their lacklustre show against West Indies and received a comprehensive drubbing from the Australians who were struggling earlier at home against NZ.
So what is the big deal if the selectors repose their faith in youngsters and replace Sehwag, Tendulkar, Dravid and Laxman with players like Manoj Tiwari, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Cheteshwar Pujara?
The youngsters cannot score any less runs than these classy, technically correct, legendary seniors but will definitely save a lot of runs on the field, tilting the balance in favour of Team India atleast marginally!
I can see all the negative comments about this topic but hope someone sees a good fact in it and will reach to the people who have not been thinking so far!!!! "'Indians need to make bouncier pitches'"
Re: Real Fact!!!!
by Varun on Feb 11, 2012 08:41 PM
If you are talking about for domestic cricket, i agree. But for international series, i donot agree with providing bouncy tracks. Every team should have its home advantage and should use it. Secondly ability to play spin is as important as ability to play pace. This whole pace centric nonsense needs to stop. Have wickets in domestic cricket where we can test and train our youngsters and even our team to deal with both tech requirements. But for matches against international teams, it should be spin all the way.
Succession planning is deliberately not done by the governing body BCCI so that old bandikoot stays everywhere and milk the cow. Its also true in politics e.g karunanidhi & manmohan singh. Truely there is no risk in losing seniors as thel all have become a liability than agile sportsman. India is fit only to play the 20/20 glamour and nothing about serious cricket!!!

Well said. Under 13s team will fare much better than Dhoni, Kohli, Gambhir, etc. 100% agreed. :-) Umesh Yadav is definitely at par with Dhoni in captaincy. Thanx for agreeing. :-)
