Cricket is Business for BCCI
by Manoj Adwani on Feb 11, 2012 09:34 PM

Great article. But will the BCCI officials have ever a long term vision & policy to develop young budding & talented cricketers. Look at what happened to Anil Kumble, who had sent a comprehensive plan to the BCCI to develop players at NCA. The BCCI never responded to such a great player's vision as it would have resulted in money to be spent & out of their pockets and Anil Kumble quit in frustration. The day India lost a Sydney, the BCCI announced the IPL schedule. Players like Dhoni have already indicated that they will burn out fast because of excessive cricket. Why would BCCI pay more to the players to play for the country, they know the players are already their slaves and lures them through huge payments in IPL circus, which are sponsored by the franchises. Ranji trophy matches, players are the neglected children of the BCCI and are played on horrible pitches and empty stands. I have been following cricket since the last 35 years and never have I felt such disillusionment for test cricket and BCCI's apathy towards the players. Finally Mr. Vilasrao Deshmukh winning the MCA elections against Dilip Vengsarkar clearly indicates that BCCI i.e Business Control of Cricket in India,

Cricket is only an Event not sports
by Sharmila Bose on Feb 11, 2012 08:26 PM

Cricket is only a sports of elites who have ample money to watch the games in the stadium.. IPL auctions have given a new brand to Cricket of Costly Slaves becoz they are auctioned.. I wonder, how people can take the Auction aspect for a Sports.

Good article

Good article that indicates how money is being concentrated only on the IPL by the BCCI. As the author has mentioned, perhaps the players are not aware of the caluclations. Perhaps they should become aware of this so that they can revolt against the BCCI. The BCCI is nothing without the players after all. The BCCI should be exposed threadbare.

PUBLIC
by madanmohan siddhanthi on Feb 11, 2012 02:18 PM

IPL is no cricket .It is a circus ,may be more crores in betting and than any other forms. The Board or the associations are full of politicians .The rprimary objecive ,passio ,life time mission of a politician is loot and loot ,next live at others cost he his family and other goons around.Given the circumstance dis it possible for the game to be a game or a sport -no. So finally it is the public just ignore IPL and see the end to this non sense . Finally the team has lost total passion for the game - youngsters and the oldies for them it is step for product endorsement wake up public every one there to loot .

RANJI AND DOMESTIC PLAYERS SHOULD BE PAID MORE
by damodaran mohan on Feb 11, 2012 02:12 PM  | Hide replies

Yes, the suggestion for narrowing the gap between payments for IPL and national duties is one of the ways to keep the players motivated on national duty. But the two are different ,IPL being an out and out a commercial venture of pvt. owners to make profit. So, exact parity is not feasible. However one area where the payment can be improved is in the domestic circuit for players playing Ranji,Duleep Trophy etc. Here also they can have players on annual contract @ Rs.1cr or so besides match fee.Paying the domestic players better will go a long way in improving standards from the feeder line.

(contd.from above..)...if I am not wrong presently the state c/boards are not generating any revenue of their own and are dependent on the transfer of funds from BCCI.State boards also should find ways to generate funds of their own.

Increase the Money for
by Muhammed on Feb 11, 2012 12:55 AM

Domestic & Junior cricketers. Also if possible, try to have a certain budget for helping other sports as well. Indian Cricketers are earning in excess. Instead of increasing their monetary gains, make it more difficult and rigorous to earn a place in playing 11. Only best 11 should field - non performers should be shown the door. Indian cricketers are over pampered, that's the reason for spineless performance.

Domestic players

Agree on the part to increase domestic players compensation but not for India players - I thihk they make enough. Also agree on whatever it takes to reduce IPL matches - anything to do with IPL needs to be toned down.
