Rohit can wait for an easier tournament
by Nikhil Shah on Feb 11, 2012 01:14 AM

Rohit has an entire career ahead of him, one big problem with this tour is we are losing all our matches and so we need to add more skill with the seniors rather than an all youngsters team.

With Sachin replaced by Gambhir at Adelaide, the top order still is pretty solid. The bowling attack still need to be spear-headed by Zaheer and Vinay is looking at solid as ever who has the best pace to accuracy ratio.

I think Pathan needs to be getting into some kind of rythm before the final 3 games. Praveen has gone wicketless and his ODI bowling SR of 41 or 7 overs is a bit low. The bowling team SR needs to be about 5.5 to 6 overs that way they can get to the opponents tailenders before the 40th over.

Teams may bat cautiously against accurate bowlers like Praveen, but with wickets in hand they could end up getting a better score in the end.

Hopefully the bowling attack for Adelaide looks like

Zaheer, Vinay, Irfan, Ashwin and Jadeja

yeh lo...log shuru ho gaye…people r going through statistic to measure their achievement. let Dhoni play few more series agsnt aus, SA , England & pak...then people will start to comparing him with Nayan mongia as a player and captain with K Srikanth. Ganguly was best captain ever produce in india after Pataudi and ajit wadekar. Dhoni got ready made team which ganguly built. He was more aggressive and always leading front unlike others. Zaheer, Harbhajan, Sehwag, Yuvraj, Pathan, Lakhman & Dhoni yeh sab ganguly ki den hai bhaiyo..he extract more from average player and transform into better result. I guess Rohit and virat is the most talented player but they r not able to to deliver for what they reckon for. In contrast average player like kaif, Nehra delivered their best . Under his leadership india is only team who used to be main threaten to Australia’s monopoly at their hey days. Today aus has trashed by England and NZ (1 test) where india cud not even manage to draw a single test.

Its only because of Seniors ,We lost by 8-0 in Eng and Aus,Otherwise we coud have lost by 8-(-Negative 8).Due to seniors we end up in 0 ,otherwise it could be more worse than 8-0.

chirag foryou - where were you when Rohit was in WI
by D S on Feb 10, 2012 05:31 AM

he did the best in WI and then dropped for england series to accommodate cartel players. In Ozzie as well, the cartel players were given many tries.

Think if that happens to you? And till now, Dhonia who benefits so much from good advise to save his dumb aArsse. turns around with selectors plays this politics of sehwag versus the middle-order batsmen.

And dhonia would get away with cartel politics if he played team like Lanka.

Ozzie showed a tough resistance to cartel selection in test.

India should not get too carried away with the youngsters
by Nikhil Shah on Feb 10, 2012 04:15 AM  | Hide replies

With the need to re-establish themselves after the world cup, India still need to retain their hold on the Test and 1-day arena.

In the one-dayers there has been a drive to better fielding and bowling. The problem is there is no replacement in sight for Zaheer and Sachin yet, and Indian think tank has to still rely on the seniors for some of the key positions.

In the 1-day top order, Rahane and Shikhar has to rotate with Gambhir, Sehwag and Sachin. The middle order is also crowded, with Tiwari and Yuvraj still in the hunt.

In the 1-day seam attack, Praveen is Dhoni's favorite and Vinay Kumar who has increased his pace has the best pace to accuracy ration. Though Munaf is as good as Zaheer in the 1-dayers he still needs to refine his fielding and batting skills. Vinay needs about 20 more ODIs to mature and Praveen's pace is declining for the the next World Cup, India needs 4 seamers and Vinay and Munaf are the most likely to survive.

In Tests, Dravid, Laxman and Sachin are not as solid and India cannot replace Gambhir and Sehwag in the near term. So Rahane, Pujara, Tiwari and Rohit Sharma have to wait.

The problem with Test fast bowling has been the performance of Ishant's decline. Both Yadav and Varun have not matured yet. Yadav's profile looks similar to Sreesanth who started his Test career just like Yadav did.

It seems like Rohit will be knocking on the door for 1-dayers with Yuvraj still around.

why are looking for replacements for specific players..look for replacements for specific positions. Virat kohli can be an excellent no.4 in tests. there is no need to replace zaheer as we can imagine he got injured.

Dude with seniors ,we have lost 8-0 in eng and aus,Whats the logic in keeping them in the team ,build a young new Team.
