ASK LAXMAN TO COME BACK FROM RETIREMENT
by jacob gosh on Dec 12, 2012 02:40 PM  | Hide replies

We can do jusitce to Laxman by asking him to come back from retirement to play Test series against Australia.BCCI should show the MAGNANIMITY in ASKING him to come back from retirement.Any way still he is playing in RANJI CRICKET and scored a century and fifty for Hyderbad. This will surely strengthen our middle order and also India can atleast avoid the humility of another whitewash series. This will give a glowing tribute to LAXMAN, the unsung hero of indian cricket, who left the stage hurt after facing severe adverse comments from critics as if he was the only culprit for the debacle in England and Australia.

There is no doubt that Laxman is a great player and better than some of his colleagues who are praised to the skies. He is also a gentleman as compared to his peers who have left the scene with this dubious title.

absolutely....i remember the 82-83 series.....Vishy had gone totally out of form and was easy pickings for the Pakistan Bowlers.....Anybody who watched that series would agree that he was not fit to play test cricket and should have retired much earlier....but as now and in those days reputation always went ahead of the current form.....

this article seems more emotional than practical when comparing sachin & laxman. Sure, both of them were responsible (like the whole team) for the whitewashes. but sachin was the 2nd highest scorer in both eng & aus series. so, selectors were (on paper) not bound to remove him. check laxman's stats for these 2 series, he averaged a petty 21 or so.

but bringing rohit sharma, vinay kumar, saha, mithun into the topic is as silly as it can get.
