No doubt Ricky was a superb player but he had a very good team & world class bowlers to back his team. No pressure to perform in most of the matches. Sachin is in weak bowling attack team most of the period.Also had pressure from a billion people.
It is entirely different leading a team and scoring runs at a time which Pointing proved himself many times, in which sachin failed and proved he is only a poor challenger where he cant take more task. He always concentrated to make records which is habit of Maratis (all kar's). Ever his runs help India to come-back and win the game. When ever country need his contribution he failed.

It is unfortunate that one doesn't praise a fellow Indian.
Ponting scored only 1 century against India in India and Sachin scored 6 against Australia in Australia and one of them was at Perth.Even Lara never scored a 100 in India.Sachins average in tests in Australia is 60.He is simply the greatest.

And sachin has scored 5 centuries in South Africa and half a dozen in England.Pity some people write rubbish about him without any knowledge of the game

Why could sachin never score a triple hundred in first class cricket, forget Test cricket.. Lara has scored 400 in test cricket & 500 in first class cricket. Scoring big is also a SIGN of great batsmen, although not every one has stamina or concentration to do it!

why could any player couldn't play for 23 years consistantly. Everyone has their merit. Why couldn't lara didn't score 400 in every game. or poting couldn't score 200 in one days. Even if you become a cricter you wouldn't do as much as Sachin.

Is he doing favor, if he is playing for 23 years? Your so called great player couldn't even save a single test in 8 straight test matches lost in England, Australia. Still shamelessly hanging around!

It is not about scores!!.......it is about the 'situation' in which they played.........Sachin, to start with, unlike most other players in the game, never had the nagging question of 'is he in the playing 11' .......he could chose to say in or out of the game.........and whenever came back could claim 'his right'.......this surely took off the pressure that most experience and live with.....
He could still play in the Australian Team, but he has given up the place for one youngster. He is really generous. He is Punter. All my love is with him. I respect him, but definitely after Sourav Ganguly.

There's no getting away from the fact that like the Indian team, Sachin is a flat track bully. You can check his records in India and overseas and compare how he fares abroad. As for records, it is fact that he holds numerous records, but others don't because they didn't play for records. Any self-respecting player would have quit if he'd held the kind of stats that Sachin holds this year.

Allan Donald, Wasim Akram, Courtney Walsh, Curtly Ambrose, Glen McGrath, Abdul Qadir, Shane Warne, MuraliTharan, Vaas, Shoaib Akhtar,Fannie de Villiers and the list goes on...
These are the world class bowlers Sachin has survived against.
Name the list of world class bowlers whom Ponting had to really fight it out.
Don't try to educate us about Sachin. Its a curse on this poor guy that he is playing for India in fact. Be wise.

Really? Are you saying Ponting didn't play against these bowlers? As for Sachin surviving against these bowlers, it's a joke. He was uncomfortable against many of these bowlers, especially outside of India.

you are partially right. Sachin had to face the very best of Australian bowling during their peak period..but ponting beain an australian did not have to..that show who was great SACHIN or pointing....
