In my observation I thought G R Viswanath No.3 bat was covered by Vengsarkar then now Dravid filled the gap created by Vengsarkar. I hope Kohli will take the mantle from here to fill this gap. All these people played at different times and kept their flags high always. I did not see any of these three spoke unnecessarily and this is a common feature in them.

Cheteswar Pujara is more likely to replace Dravid. Kohli's head is not steady which is a must in Test Cricket.

Dravid makes head count in the team
by swetha on Sep 16, 2011 10:48 AM  | Hide replies

Dravid making head count in team
See the performance
T-20 match 31 runs of 20 balls
second one day 32 runs of 31 balls
third one day 2 runs of 11 balls
fourth one day 19 runs in 33 balls
See the above data not a single match winning inning.
Consider the case If tendulkar make above performance then people will say lot of things against him becuase he had set very high standard for him and everytime SRT goes they expect match winning inning from him.
See dravid and other are not performing no one is saying nothing.

That is because Sachin is the player who can lift the Team's performance, if he does well in any match. Sachin is The Key Player in any format.

Dravid in contrast is more of a test player and nobody will care even if he goes for a duck.

All Love Sachin and hence we expect more out of him everytime he plays for India.

Tell me a single test winning knock SRT has played. He has always failed in crucial situations be it 2003 wc final or 2011 wc final

Sachin scored a Century vs England when we were chasing a 380 plus target, also his 194* in Pakistan also Won us the Test match. Many other such knocks are there, if you are impartial then you will accept.

Raksh i am not a Sachin fan but in Test Sachin was MOM in 14 occasion and MOS in 5 occasion. In ODI he was 62 MOM and 14 MOS which is much more than any Indian. Do you think without any match winning score he was judged MOM & MOS ?

Nice one Swetha. Dravid played well in this test series and Sachin failed so everyone started criticizing Sachin. Same dravid failed in SA and Sachin only scored, no one pointed out Dravid's performance. players like Dravid and Laxman always escape just because Sachin has always been the centre of attention.

Ashish: as Dravid once rightly said, since the whole nation is hell bent on Sachin's performance, it is easy for others to score.

Hemanth, u r mistaken. See what Sachin had to tell about Dravid:
"He (Dravid) is a perfect role model for youngsters. He has set a great example for all of us to follow. We are all trying to follow that path. He is a solid batsman and one of the top players of the world who I really admire" Tendulkar told cricket fans after releasing a biography on Rahul Dravid, authored by sports writer Vedam Jaishankar, at a function in Bangalore in 2008.

Dravid's role is different here. He was taken mainly to arrest fall of wickets in seaming conditions. We din't expect him to score run-a-ball innings.

Sachin is definitely greatest ever One-day opener. Because of his presence at the crease India might have avoided lot of batting collapses. To bat for almost 50 overs in so many matches for 20 long years is no joke. Only he is tensed when the target to chase was bigger. But on most ocassions Sachin fulfilled the wishes of we mad people like only he could have. Thanks to Sachin. No comparisons with dravid in One-dayers please.

Dravid the fine sportsman
by Jaiho on Sep 16, 2011 10:31 AM  | Hide replies

India reached World Cup Final in South Africa mainly because of Dravid's contribution both as a wicket keeper and and a middle order batsman.

What a fantastic human being he is. We thought we will have nobody after Sunny, GRV and Jummy. But Dravid, Sachin and Laxman bettered them and that too with lot of humility.
