CRICKET THIS IS THE WAY LOOSES CHARM
by mohan on Oct 27, 2011 10:44 AM  | Hide replies

How can one guage the strength of the team. Does it mean that if India had played the world cup in England, India would have lost it or vic versa India had won the WC bcoz in home ground. It is boring. Champion hast to be champion irrespective of locations, conditions.

Revenge series is not good for Indian cricket
by Nikhil Shah on Oct 27, 2011 03:27 AM

The recently concluded ODI series against England reminds us of the bad old days of Indian cricket. Wickets made for spinners, a strong middle order and make-shift openers.

The absence of Shikhar Dhawan and Mukund Anand gave us an indication that the selectors were not looking to long term solutions for finding solid openers for both Test and ODIs. The the trend of poor starts in overseas tours will continue.

This also put pressure on the strong middle order. The continuation with Praveen Kumar and Vinay Kumar also is problematic because none of them are candidates for being frontline bowlers for a team with a strong batting lineup destined to be ranked number one.

The chronic absence of Sehwag and Gambhir is a negative aspect if Mukund Anand and Dhawan are not groomed properly for the long term.

Back in the 80s and 90s, the revenge series was a common thing in India because they just came back from a disastrous tour which was always the case and the BCCI would then arrange a comeback series at home which is plagued with makeshift openers, spin centric pitches and strong middle order.

The problem with has reoccurred, where even Jadeja and Ashwin were looking like world class spinners in India.

Aaron and Yadav should have had debut in SA, WI and recent England tours and the obsession with swing rather than pace continues...

WHITE WASH
by Shilpa Mehta on Oct 26, 2011 01:44 PM  | Hide replies

ENG is not at all a very good team . They

defeated us in recent series in ENG

because half of our team was not playing

due to injuries & rain also helped them . It

was our B team , had our original A team

played we would have white washed them in

their backyard. Now see our B team

whitewashed them in India .

Good Joke. Same can be said about Eng also because half of their team is not available for ODI series in India. The same England team went to Aus and SA and beat them. India has not managed to do that till date.

Sorry to say that recent england Team in INDIA is not that weak as compared to india's B Team in England. In england, they have had full strength team. In India, for england, most of the front line players are already available with them but we rocked them. Remember we still are of not full strength. There are soo many useless comments made by soo many guys during our tour in england. And definitely we will not be get whitewashed if our front line players are available there. Remember our performance in England during Natwest Trophy when ganguly takeoff his shirt in the finals. Please don't underestimate INDIA...

'ALAS!'tair Cooked

'ALAS!'tair Cook says India have struggled in our conditions also. Does he forget that India won the previous test series in England in 2007 and should have won that 2-0 had Dravid been more ruthless. Does he forget that India have won one-day series and chased down 300 targets 3 or 4 times! Does he forget that they won against a rag tag injured-a-day Indian side in England few weeks back.. plus the rain also helped them immensely! Why do these guys cry and whine about conditions..conditions.. conditions. Is England in another planet or what. Their batting conditions in one day matches are the best for batting. The ball does not seam forget turn there. The ball comes at the right height and comes onto the bat nicely. In test matches there are seaming pitches but their batsmen will also have to face the same pitch! Yes England played well in England but Indian injuries and rain helped them greatly. They did not beat India there as India beat them hands down here.

India thrash England by 95 runs to complete whitewash
by raman govindan on Oct 26, 2011 11:33 AM

india had won the 1 day series, but the popularity of the game has nose dived. but it is good for the country. the other atheltics and other games should use the opportunity to raise their level. cricket's loss is gain for others! we may increase our tally in the next asian gomes if the other sports administrators seize the opportunity!

Many people do not want to go to Stadium to see the match withiout cover on the top. Further many fans are treated like animals by cricket authorties. Best way is to watch match at home by sitting before TV.
