Poor Crowd at Eden Garden, Calcutta
by Hebbar M S on Oct 26, 2011 11:00 AM

Many people do not want to go to Stadium to see the match withiout cover on the top. Further many fans are treated like animals by cricket authorties. Best way is to watch match at home by sitting before TV.

This is a big BS.

This doesn't make any sense. Normally 5-0 victory over any team would call for a great celebration and sense of pride.

But this particular victory against England despite being thrashed horribly literally few weeks ago doesn't sound exciting at all. Its actually more confusing than exciting.

I think these one side white wash series are really boring. I doubt, the visiting teams simply don't want to try, perhaps due to lack of motivation or something else.

The real revenge matches were the ones played by India and Pak. The bilateral series were closely fought matches. There weren't much of blantant series white wash.

ICC needs to do something to penalize teams who get thrashed like this, specially if you are #1,#2 in the world.

Voosan, In India-Pak matches the betting will be very much and thus matches too close.
Series will be always 3-2, 2-1 as far as back in late 90s when India's economy pulled up.
But trust me Pak was a good time till early 2000's and they could easily beat india left right and center that time. Any logical Indian fan trying to make money will put his bets in favour of Pak that time (Wasim, Waqar, Saqlain, Inzy and Anwar).

Coming to India-Eng series agree with you partially. There seems to be lack of motivation and total lack of preparation to some extent.

I meant to say Pak was a good team (not time) compared to India in cricket during 90's and early 2000s.
I remember the only team that defeated India in test series during 90's is Pakistan. Perhaps the Series was 1-1 they beat us in Chennai and India cameback with Kumble's 10 wicket bang in Delhi. The third game wasnt part of series.

Revenge???!!
by Junior Shelly on Oct 26, 2011 01:18 AM  | Hide replies

I wonder what would have happened if the ECB had decided to prepare seamer-friendly pitches for India's last tour of England. Despite such wickets, a couple of Indian batsmen returned home due to broken bones.
The tour to New Zealand in 2001-2002 (I guess) when the Indians were provided with green tops - infact those pitches were greener than the outfield itself - with the likes of Shane Bond, Darryl Tuffey and Jacob Oram tormenting the Indian 'Legends' with pace, bounce and movement. ..and what fun it was...!!!!
I believe the ECB should have had provided such green-tops to the Indian team during the last tour. Only then, there shall be any justification for preparing slow, low dust bowls for this series.
What have the Indian team achieved from this 'farce'?? Revenge??!!! NO..NO...Not at all....!!! the scars of that humiliating white wash at the hands of the English will remain for a long time...because some over-inflated egos of certain Indian players took a severe beating...

India won a test series in England in 2007, when did England win a test series in India for the last time ? I guess 30 years ago.

Also how did India managed to chase down targets in "low slow dust-bowl" wickets in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th ODIs (with several overs and at least five wickets in hand) when England had a "World Class" off-spinner called Graeme Swann in the team.

Don't show your lack of knowledge by making such cheap comments. Learn to appreciate a crushing victory over a good team ranked above us before the series began. And the NZ you are talking about, we won there as well in 2009. So don't talk nonsense.
We have won convincingly. We haven't achieved REVENGE. It's more than that Junior.

Lack of knowledge???!! I guess you were not born then, when India toured New Zealand in 2001-'02. FYI, those wickets were true examples for home-advantage. Just like we Indians provide under prepared rank turners for visiting teams, the Kiwis prepared lightning fast green tops for us. The pitches on which the 2009 series was played on were absolutely docile.
About achieving more than just Revenge: Yes, the label of flat-pitch bullies has been stamped even harder on our 'legends'. Great..!!!

Why should be think playing well on green pitches is the only benchmark. Why not on other pitches? Is it because westerns are the people who decide what is more challenging? If we say Indians cant play pace, we also need to ask how many others play on slow pitches.

I am not talking about performances on tailor-made green tops or rank turners. Why the BCCI and other sub-continent Cricket boards are afraid of providing good sporting wickets on which there is something for all?
Now, please tell me about one instance, when during India's tour to England the Indians were provided unplayable pitches where the ball seamed, bounced and moved alarmingly to cause any serious trouble to the Indian players??

I think your perception is wrong here mr Shelly. Cricket is a different game and depends lot on condition and with India (BCCI) being money spinner one has to accomodate some things. End of day BCCI wants win-win for all. I guess it went wrong in the earlier series and now 5-0 for English.

Jadeja is proving to be a capable all rounder
by sreenivasulu reddy on Oct 26, 2011 01:11 AM  | Hide replies

Jadeja is proving to be a capable all rounder contributing with bat and also with ball. May be it is better to give him some chances on tests too and see if he can develop into a good all rounder.
As far as ODI performance, I am not sure if giving opportunities to Vinay kumar is a good idea.Already indian team is filled with good swing bowlers. Rather than Vinay Kumar, it is better to give opportunities to fast bowlers like Aaron or Umesh.
Another wasted investment is on Parthiv patel. He may be a good backup keeper to Dhoni and definitely not as a specialist batsman. Rather than him, it is better to give opportinities to Rayudu, Manoj Tiwary or Pujara or S Tiwary or Dhawan.

Among the names given only Cheteshwar Pujara has the capacity to be in the test team. Vinay Kumar has varieties in the bowling and has been among top three pace bowlers of India since last three years in domestic tournament. In Test only pave will not help swing in very much needed to take wickets.

Time to take some action to save Cricket from mafias called BCCI and the circus called T20.
These are really killing cricket.
How else would you justify a turnout of just 27K in Eden! Not so long ago, this stadium used to have full house even in test matches.
And now a quarter of its capacity crowd in an ODI! something must be wrong!

Fanatastic Performance By Dhoni&Warriors,Dhoni has Shown to be the Greatest Cricket Captain of World Cricket History Itself.Such exciting OneDay Matches and T20 matches in England too, compared to boring&time-wasting Test Cricket MUST Open the Eyes of Fans&Government NOW.India&ALL Poor countries Must BAN Test Cricket &PLay Only ODI& short cricket Matches to prevent more poverty,misery&under-development. Cricket Fans&Sponsors MUST Dump Test Crciket in interest of the development of the Nation &to increase productivity of the citizens too.The Time-wasting Test Cricket, 3 Day Crciket, etc was invented by crooked British Colonizers, like inventing Mahatma gandhee, the british double agent&non-violence to make People of Colonies Lazy&Morrons&vegtables& POOR Forever. The ODI matches&T20 match provided thrilling Cricket Unlike the Monotonous& Time-Wasting TEST CRICKET which has wasted Millions of man or woman hours of our country& MADE US POORER too&this wastage of millions of working hours has been happending for the past 500 years& MORE& that is why we indians are 50 years behind China which does NOT have this anti-national time-westing game of TEST CRICKET.What a shame that patriotic citizens& leaders have NOT BANNED such a time-wasting game as TEST CRICKET&NOT enacted the law which states that ODI/short version cricket macthes MUST be played ONLY During Week-ends orHolidays so that our country does

India thrash England by 95 runs to complete whitewash
by Viraf Mehta on Oct 26, 2011 12:27 AM  | Hide replies

I wonder what Nasser Hussain has to say about the whitewash of the pathetic English players by a weak Indian team. Wonder what would have happened had India fielded Sachin, Shewag and the others.

Mr. Hussain, will you call this team a bunch of losers, or monkeys as you had addressed the Indians when they lost to England recently?
