There may be a point here. Just look that even minnows bangladesh gave an almost good chase to the indian mammoth total in the inaugral match. See how south africa overhauled India's total in the qualifiers. Than all of a sudden this Indian team that was doubtful to win. Performs well against Australia who while batting did not go for big hits in the final overs. The way pakistan dropped 5 times tendulkar which was a prize wicket that no fielder will like to take lightly and the way Srilankans batted in the first five overs as Zaheer was a bowler of the class of Glen McGrath or the fearsome Malcolm Marshall, Andy Roberts or Joel Garner. It all looks pretty fishy.
Vinod Kambli is a number one third-class buggar who after 15 years raised a controvery which, he knew very well, would fuel the feelings of the people of the country. He has always been a most downgrading idiot one will ever find. He always aspired for cheap publicity. Even his weeping openly in Kolata during the semis after India lost the match, was nothing but a third-class drama. By doing this, he might have thought that he will gain public sympathy and in fact he got that, but now after levelling the blame indirectly against Azharuddin, it is clear that this buggar is a big dramatist who is always on the look out for some cheap publicity because nobody cares him and for keeping himself in the limelight, he every now and then resorts to these third-rated garbage antics. He clearly belongs to the dust-bin category and that's why every now and then he keeps on throwing garbage at someone or the other. Azharuddin, as many people know, is a genuine human being and that he need not bother about this idiot's remarks.

I for one, find it hard to believe that players like Azhar & Ajay Jadeja were involved in match fixing. Remember Jadeja's onslaught against Waqar Younis in the WC Quarter final against Pakistan which was the previous match to the one in question? In fact even Kapil Dev has gone on record stating that he believes Azhar & Jadeja were innocent.
The last time i have seen azhar batting well was against England 1993...I sincerly believe all the Indian matches after 1993 in which azhar has played should be meticulously scrutinize by some outside agency rather than BCCI

there are so many innings played by Gavaskar and Ravi shastri which every one said is selfish, do we need to check this also for fixing?
The one point that most of the involved seem to be talking about is, why did Kambli keep quite for 15 years. That is no doubt a good question. But, in the present context it seems an argument meant to divert the issue. Truth does not get spoilt with time. There are so many issues that comes out into the open decades later, most often by Biographies/Autobiographies by the players. At that time none seem to question the delay. So, why now? The best thing to do would be to just simply investigate and let people know if they have been sold out by the self centered and corrupt players.

Look. There may be fixing or no fixing. But Sri Lanka was the better team during 1996 world cup with a formidable batting lineup, accurate bowling attack , a brilliant fielding outfit and exemplary captaincy. They did not lose a single match in that series.
I witnessed that match in TV.I was surprised when the captain decided to field after winning the toss, knowing very well that the pitch does not favour chasers because of dues..I support Kambli.
