It is right when akhtar announce retirement so many people got surprised he was not included.Second most of the players contributed and their approach was more clinical than the flair of any player.our batsmen particularly from NO 5 onwards needs to be more methodical taking single and doubles and rotating then going for big hits, this is not 20/20.Dhoni can not afford this mistake when he has one over left of bhaji when his spell was excellent removing him and giving to a bowler who was the most expensive one on that day and till now dhoni has not excepted that mistake.Stop focusing on sachin we need win not his century there is no differece of 100 to 99 except one

If Sachin doesn't score, forget our chances. No one barring Sachin or Sehwag can bat more than 15 overs against Lee Tait and Johnson. Unfortunately we don't have a Drvaid or Laxman.

Since the beginning of 2006, Tendulkar averages 48.94 in ODIs at a strike rate of 87.18, with eight hundreds and 22 fifties.
Thirty-three out of Tendulkar's 46 hundreds have come in victories. When India win, he averages 57.85 at a strike rate of 90.53; in losses it comes down to 32.91, at a strike rate of 79.57.
Among teams against whom he has played more than one ODI, Tendulkar averages more than 39 versus all sides except South Africa (against whom he averages 34.36).
Tendulkar has struck 1929 fours in ODIs, which is 429 more than the next-best - Sanath Jayasuriya has 1500.

Come on! do you think these losers will understand what you are saying and stop bashing Sachin? Never....Sachin bashing is OXYGEN to them.

Common sense will tell anyone why a team loses or win when its players score century.

A team will lose despite its player scoring 100s:
1) all other failing contribute
2) opposition gifting wickets the way WI did in last match
3) if the tesm's bowling is weaker than that of the opposition

The only thing

Very negative article. The only thing I agree was Asad Shafiqs batting, he was a class apart and his technique to Lee, Tait and Johnson was outstanding. Barring Sehwag and Sachin, India's middle order has no chance against their pace . God Forbid, if we lose 2 early wickets, India is doomed. Yuvraj, Dhoni and Pathan will be cannon fodder to their pace.

We don't have a Asad Shafiq, the closest would Virat Kohli .

What a load of crap. Indian batting is far too strong for any bowling line up in the world. Steyn and Morkel are far superior to Australian bowling line up. India handled them well both in India and SA. Tait, JOhnson.. freebie bowlers for India. Brett Lee was humiliated even by Uthappa last year. 26 runs in one over. Phew.

LEE is no ordinary bowler. He might go for runs once in while but that does not mean he will be easy to score in QF.

Same way Indian batsmen are not going to roll over and play dead. When we beat Australia in Australia we had guys like Gambhir, Uthappa, Rohit Sharma playing well against Lee and Co. Lee was far better than he is now. Our only problem is self-destruction after 40 overs

yes, but what is the need to prove that LEE is a pathetic bowler, which he is not as a matter of fact?

I would say go with 5 bowlers.Ashwin can score the binary runs that Yusuf has been scoring. Yusuf stands no chance against Lee, Tait and Johnson.Atleast Ashwin will give you wickets .

I think one can leave Kholi or Gambhir out and include extra bowler.Yusuf add value to team..if he clicks and hits few quick runs down the order, that will make a difference

Apples and oranges
by Keshav on Mar 22, 2011 03:36 AM  | Hide replies

First of all that was a group match. Nothing was on the line. Second of all they played on a pitch that was up and down right through the match. Some ball kicked off some ball didn't . Third of all Aussies played ridiculous shots in that match. They gave the wicket away more than Pakistan took the wickets. Same Pakistan team will be brutalized on a decent batting surface. ONly thing India has to learn from their own mistakes. Once they are done with that they can do well

"bowl them out"
by LG on Mar 22, 2011 02:27 AM

I do not understand why it should be applicable only to a match against Australia. It is simple funda---to win you have to bowl the opposition out.
Against a weak team or a team with a bowling unit weaker than yours, you can win match on the strength of your batting...or you can say bat the opposition out.
