UDRS
by ROBY STEPHEN on Jun 25, 2011 11:05 AM  | Hide replies

Why are the Indian Board and the Indian Cricketers afraid of the UDRS ? is there something to hide or is there fear that they are going to lose something which they wrongfully and knowingly enjoy? Otherwise , just for this one issue, how come they become so saintly to support the deisions of the umpires on ground ? perplexing !!!!

Shame&anti-national action that we a poor country of 1 billion people are still continuing with playing monotonous& time wasting Tests& 3 day matches, etc, May be Baba Ramdev&Anna Hazare must lauch a national agitation to BAN Monotonous&anti-development&anti-national TEST matches&3 Day& One Day Cricket Matches FOREVER.It is time india and poor countries ban Test Cricket& 3 day macthes forever and Play ONLY T20 matches so that millions of man or woman hours are NOT lost watching monotonous test crciket&3 day macthes, etc. BCCI& rulers are still behaving as slaves of Westerners, shame they have appointed white skinned westerners as coach, assisistant coach etc paying millions of dollars though we have excellent indian coaches like jimmy amarnath, madan lal& so maany other who can do better jobs than foreigners.BCCI& government must NOT allow more than 2 foreign players in each team&that will gove greater opportunity to indians as well. What a shame that BCCI and rulers are behaving as slaves of westerners even now or are they getting huge kick-backs in the deals involving forein players, etc, Millions of cricket fans must not allow our country to be looted again by foreigners&foreign business houses any more.Hope millions of indians are listening&that they will take necessary action to give

Umpires
by new on Jun 25, 2011 09:30 AM  | Hide replies

Imagine cricket without umpires and their decisions. If cricket has to be played with the help of technology alone (UDRS,Stump cams, Hot spots & etc) then it will be only robotic and boring no matter how accurate the system is.. It requires some drama and passion and antigony for truly enjoying THE GAME. Even gully cricket to NBA, WC/ClubFootball all sporting events are susceptible to favoritism and erroneous decisons which is the flair of human intervention. Forget all s888 and enjoy the cricket..

lol. Rabri, they are only against ball tracking. Get your facts right. They need snickometer along with it. Why is ICC against snickometer ?

First understand that the UDRS can be used to a maximum of 3 times in an innings, meaning only 3 errors of the umpire can be corrected. In this case, there are 4 erroneous decisions by the umpire, so the UDRS becomes defunct after its 3rd use in an innings. So, UDRS is NOT the ultimate solution to ALL umpire decisions, and its totally the discretion of the captian to use it.

Are you sure? I thought as long as the challenges were correct, they did not lose any. And if it is the discretion of the captain, fine, then he should accept the umpire's decision too. He cannot have it both ways.

Hi Looses, in UDRS, if your judgement or decision correct, then your no of chances will not go less, its remains same.

when you applying a decision which would have gone wrong, then your chance will decrease.

Plz comes to table after knows the matter....

UDRS Vs BCCI

It is funny that BCCI doesnot allow UDRS in India matches and yet their players complain about umpire decisions. It was childish of Dhoni to publicly denounce umpiring decisions. If you donot want UDRS , then you should suffer these decisions silently because UDRS only tries to reduce umpiring blunders. Some logic of BCCI and its players.

Even I do support UDRS, but it has its own set of problems. Mind you, technology can be tampered with very easily. First understand that the UDRS can be used to a maximum of 3 times in an innings by a team, meaning only 3 errors of the umpire can be corrected. In this case, there are 4 erroneous decisions by the umpire, so the UDRS becomes defunct after its 3rd use in an innings. Three un-successful reviews will void any more reviews. If your call for a review is successful, that means, you will have that review still available.

funny is what your comment is. Indian team is not against UDRS, but against the ball tracking. You can have review just like the one for runouts without ball tracking. That can fix all these six cases. Also snickometer and hotspot. And india does support that.

no Harper for 3rd test
by Johnny Gaddar on Jun 24, 2011 10:00 PM

BCCI should force this lousy umpire out of the 3rd test - they have the might to do it and they should. Another lousy Aussie umpire, that country has produced only 1 decent umpire - Simon Taffeul

Why BCCI Does not want UDRS
by Arun vignesh on Jun 24, 2011 09:54 PM

Because BCCI sold TV rights without covering these technology for matches to be played in India. May be when the contract comes up for renewal the same BCCI top brass will make a U-Turn

Here is the basic double standards of BCCI. Just a day back they said they do not want DRS and now they are complaining about umpiring.
