AS YOU SOW, SO SHALL U REAP....!
by Smart Blogger on Jun 24, 2011 03:16 PM  | Hide replies

I guess our players have not heard of this proverb.....BCCI and some of our players have been hell bent against using UDRS since a long time. Now they are cribbing over wrong decisions.....Even Dhoni was against UDRS....Now on what basis is he making these comments.....BCCI was saying UDRS is imagination.....Now what is the use of cribbing over Harpers imagination...In no case should he be dropped from officiating from third test....

Totally Agree...they have to be blamed for not using UDRS. They should not crib now.

Absolutely. Imagine when the umpire sees his decision turned down!! he is so embarrased and hence thinks umpteen times before giving a decision. Dhoni , rather BCCI are to be blamed for this fiasco.

use DRS
by Ravi on Jun 24, 2011 03:12 PM  | Hide replies

It is very surprising Indians refuse DRS. Agreed it is not perfect but it is of immense use as can be seen from the mathces in which it is used.Fact is Indians do not know how and when to use it properly. In the world cup, leading batsmen like Sehwag used DRS without even consulting Sachin who was at the non striker end and wasted the chance. Similarly while fielding, indians donot know when to ask for review. They should be given training .ICC should be firm and make it mandatory to use it in all series . All neccessary equipment like snickmeters and hotspots should be used to get right decisions. BCCI , with all its resources, should take the lead. No point in cribbing at wrong decisions by umpires. UDRS is meant to eliminate such decisions.

drs is not 100% accurate man, thats why india opposes. if you use technology for assistance that should be foolproof. right? hawckeye is not accurate.

No technology is foolproof in this world, however, it goes a long way to help matters. The most important point is being missd in this whole argument. Here we are taking about so many dubius or rather wrong decisions being give by the umpire. The big question here is that how do we know those decisions were wrong? The replays of course in most cases! They showed us the decisions were wrong. So while these replays are the ones confiriming that the decisions were wrong, we still refuse to use DRS which would majorly be using the same replays to arrive at the conclusion. The problem is that while the Indian team is on the pitch playing, they do not know what is right or wrong. They only come to know later after they return to the pavalion and see the replays and then start to crib. There is no doubt they need better training to understand what's right and what's not on the field so they can make good use of the DRS. Till then they will always be in doubt and continue to oppose the DRS. Other teams have already learnt to use it effectively but not the Indians.

Back UDRS
by Preeti Mishra on Jun 24, 2011 03:11 PM

Why don't you guys support UDRS? Most of these mistakes could have been rectified using UDRS. UDRS review record will form the rating of an umpire.

Harper is a decent umpire
by B M on Jun 24, 2011 03:06 PM  | Hide replies

Darryl Harper is one of the better umpires in the game. Unfortunately, he had a bad match, similar to what a good cricketer has at times. The Indian players should not over react.

Ofcourse, everybody knows that if BCCI wants Harper to be out of the next match, then he will be out for sure!

When in 70s and 80s and 90s, England and Australia were monopolising ICC policies and decisions, no one was bothered. Now, if BCCI does the same, people find it objectionable. Why?

If BCCI and Indian players don't want UDRS,they should shut their mouths and play on!If UDRS was used many of these incorrect decisions would have been rectified! No point crying over spilt milk!

Well said. BCCI does nt want DRS as it has vested interests. Looks like bookies have links not just with some players but also BCCI.

U think UDRS cannot be tampered with? Ball tracking technology is based on computer extrapolating the ball trajectory. If the software developer tweaks the logic a bit, a ball can be made to look to be heading for the stumps or vice versa.
