Hope everyone recalls that Sachin has directly requested, and was granted a duty waiver (import duty) of 1.13 crore due for the luxury car Ferrari gifted to him by FIAT, despite getting it as a gift and not winning it as a prize in a tournament. Why did the finance ministry accord such an exemption?. Is it because of his being an actor or is it because he was a legendary cricketer?. Recently he had sold this car to a business man in India, for an undisclosed amount, and he keeps the profits from the exemption too.

Dude duty was paid in full. So stop complaining and ask for God's forgiveness.

Now Sachin has declared himself as a popular model who acts in various commercials for endorsing products of various companies, for the purpose of getting tax brakes. Technically he is right, but is way off the personality that he maintains in the minds of millions of Indians. Sachin is a model, and who will make him a model for their products if he is not a cricketer. Without cricket is he anything. Fact is everything that he is now is because of cricket. Take the cricket out of him, will anyone sign him for any commercials. There are surely better options in actors & models available for endorsing their products.
Mainstream news channels are not giving much importance to this news, because of pressure from advertisers. After all, the same advertisers who are giving advertisements through news channels, have already paid in advance huge amount to Sachin for endorsing their products. So protecting the common interests, brand Sachin needs to be protected
