This is 10th test of murali vijay record in tests
At the end of this innings his record in tests is
10 tests 15 innings 545 runs highest 139 notout -0 average 36.33 100s-1 50s-2

At the same point of sachin career sachin record was-
10 tests 15 innings 577 runs highest 119* notout-1 average 41.21 100s-1 50s-4

Murali Vijay-Another sachin in the making?

Murali Vijay seems to be as good as sachin/sachin seems to be as bad as murali vijay.

WI tour : A case of poor planning and execution
by Nikhil Shah on Jun 21, 2011 12:13 AM  | Hide replies

Are the players blamed for the results in this WI tour? No. The tour is plagued with poor planning on the part of the Selectors and team management.

Here are some of the issues one has to ponder:

1. The calling of the tour after the WC/IPL
2. The inclusion of Test specialist in ODI
3. The inclusion of ODI specialist in Tests
4. Exclusion of young quicks: Yadav & Aoran.
5. Inclusion of FF seniors Vinay and Badrinath

We know that both Vinay and Badrinath were never the future prospects along with Praveen. The selectors missed out youngsters like Yadav and Varun who has clocked 153kph on the slow docile pitches of Jarkhand. This was a great chance to be tested out.

Indian selectors have continued the trend to no isolate ODIs from Tests. Virat, Raina, and Yuvraj in the past are considered in test matches while Tiwari, Rahane, Pujara are excluded.

With the loss of ODIs 4 and 5 the Indians have allowed to mentally bounce back and the Test series will be difficult.

why watch these games, they are meaningless, watch something else. After so much cricket, one feel like throwing up by the name of it.

I am not sure what you are saying but the schedule of this WI was untimely. If this was a tour to test out the youngsters then Test and ODI matches and selection had to be sorted out as follows:

Future ODI batting lineup

Mukund, Shikhar, Kohli, Raina, Patel, Rohit Sharma and Yusuf

Future Test batting:

Mukund, Murali, Rahane, Tiwari, Pujara, Rohit Sharma.

But the picking of the final 11 was much to be desired. The selection committee should have briefed Raina before the tour on the ODI team buildup

The Test team is a little better but Raina will probably not survive over the longer term because India depends heavyly on accumulators like Laxman, Dravid and Sachin.

well said, what 2020 specialist praveen doing in test match. why vijay after so many failure and even for one day match. Any experiment should not be more than 2-3 major change.

why old dravid? though he play decent batting doesn't deserve his place in test matches. You have chance to build new testing team for 5-10 years and WI tour is the best option.
