Selection blunders continue to plague Indian cricket
by Nikhil Shah on Jun 18, 2011 02:47 AM

This WI tour was suppose to bring out the best
youngsters in the country and the selectors
have again gone back to its old ways.

Here are the 4 players form the future of
Indian cricket

A Rahane: FF ave 68 for Test matches
M Anand : List-A ave 57 SR was 82 for ODIs
U Yadav : Pace around 144kph for Test matches
M Parmar: FF bowling ave 18.52 with 93 wkts

I cannot figure out Rahane's absence? It took
several years before Gambhir was considered to
join Sehwag at the top order. Ganguly has told
Sehwag during his Australian Test debut that
he will get plenty of Tests, this reduced the
pressure on Sehwag and was batting quite
fluidly on that debut tour of Australia.

Mukund Anand was ahead of Shikhar Dhawan, and
should have been given 5 chances in the ODI
series. If you tell a player this is
your last chance or your only chance he is bound to fail.

Tiwari was an example of such mis-management of new players.

Yadav should have bowled a bit in the WI ODI
series and lot more in England later. He may
get picked for the Australian cement tracks

Another example is Monish Parmar, the best
off-spinner in the country with 92 wickets
at an average of 18.52!

And the failures ...
by Arv Singh on Jun 17, 2011 09:45 PM  | Hide replies

These players flopped miserably in this ODI series:

1. Suresh Raina
2. Shikhar Dhawan
3. Badrinath
4. Yusuf Pathan
5. Ashwin

These five players had an opportunity of lifetime but wasted it with poor application and performance.

Entirely wrong analysis by Rediff
by Indigo Sepoy on Jun 17, 2011 09:18 PM

Just because the players who were given chances clicked in 5 matches doesnt mean they are here to stay. Parthiv Patel performed average and just did enough to justify his selection. Wriddaman was not even given a chance. Manoj Tiwary and Badrinath should be given more chances. Harbhajan is taking his place for granted and therefore Ashwin should be played in rotation every other match for Bhaji so that there is competition for that slot.
Virat Kohli has already cemented his place in the Indian ODI Side. Don't know why the Editor is trying to talk about him!
Rohit Sharma has played well in this series, but still has not done enough to cement his place.Rohit, Manoj/Saurabh Tiwary, Badrinath should be rotated for one more series.
Munaf is average at best, coming in and slam dunking the ball. Overall a very ordinary outing in the Windies.

I have a better idea for you. Stop watching cricket, that way you can make use of those hours and zoom past others in your performance and be an idol for other cricket watching, time wasting meeks.
