India Keep their Record Intact
by RSS on Jul 26, 2011 10:49 AM

Of Losing at Lord's since 1975.

I feel that we deserved to lose after playing sloppy cricket.

If we cannot bat out 5 Sessions of play, then we are not worthy of being Number 1 in rankings.

India's defeat
by Ratheesh Raman on Jul 26, 2011 10:42 AM

Sorry Mr. Dhoni your explanation was not correct. If both the innings if you see our batsman got enought chance. In first innings Both Laxman and Dravid(two player u played reasonably well) were dropped by Swann.
In second innings u can see Sachin, Gambhir and Raina will be back in Pavilion if UDRS is available. All of them were caught before the wicket by Board. Unfortunately he didnt got their wickets because of wrong umpiring. Why you opt to play with only four regular bowlers when u know the condition. Why fitness of players are not being verified before games starts. It is the mistake of BCCI . We have seen the same in past we will see this in future also.See Prior he scored superbly in second innings and he is keeping the wickets with lot of energy.
What about your own batting. Why it is a failure
At the end of the day it is credit for Englishbowlers particularly Stuart broad for bowling superbly in both innings. Our batsman failed miserbly in both innings

A Fair Result
by A Singh on Jul 26, 2011 10:39 AM

Looking at the level of preparedness of Team Dhoni, a big loss is only a fair result. Of course the team was unlucky in losing Zaheer Khan on day 1, but I don't think he could have made that much impact on the ultimate outcome. Tendulkar catching viral fever and Gambhir getting injured were also big tragedies which struck the team, but an overall lack of preparedness was very evident. Zaheer Khan was lost, because he was unprepared, and did not even know how fit he was.
Dhoni starting the attack with Suresh Raina after lunch on day 4, was a gamble that misfired. If a fast bowler 22 years of age, having taken a 40 minutes break, is unable to bowl a couple of overs, we should start looking for a replacement.
The biggest disappointment however, was the fielding. If we look at the number of twos the Poms ran, and realise that more than half of them should have been restricted to singles, we shall know how pathetic our fielding was. Despite all the bad luck, and poor decisions, if only we had taken all the chances that came our way, it would have been a good fight.
I hope our highly talented team will be able to pull up its socks and come back strongly in the next Test.

All Indian have played careless shot and there was no bowler in english team to take our wicket. Forst mistate Dhoni has asked to them bat. Second, Mukand is not a player at all who can open the bat. Please give retirement to Dravid, Laxman, Zahir, Harbajan. Select Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj, and Ravishankar ashwin, Irfan pattan. We know Dravid and laxman is playing good cricket. They are all at retirement age, so take some steps so that in future we will have some good players. Even SACHIN should think about retirement from at least test so that somany young players can enter into team.

With your suggestion, If BCCI select the team, India will be defeated against Bangladesh also. It is very easy to speak as a common man. As per your suggestion all the 3 muskeeters are to be retired. Regarding Yuvi his performance in test everybody knows. Unless and until India gets good replacement for Dravid, Laxman and Sachin there is no way of any retirement at this juncture.

Dravid the culprit
by Srinivasan Rajagopal on Jul 26, 2011 10:27 AM  | Hide replies

India lost because of him. The shot he got out was unwarranted. Never mind why others didn't play well enough to save the test...they normally won't do...what the shit was he doing playing that kind of a shot...his dismissal created a void and formed a negative impact with the rest of the team. Loser Dravid..we lost because of ur unnecessary shot.

Despite the sarcasm, you are right. Dravid and Laxman playing out the day was the only hope for India. Once they were out: to poor shots as you have pointed out, others just did not have the stomach to survive.
I also feel that Sachin and Dhoni should have played their natural games. Playing only defensive strokes is not their forte. Had they played their natural games, they might also have survived longer. Me might still have lost, but it could have been closer, and we would have had some entertainment.

@A Singh: To hell with entertainment! Saving the match was improtant than losing it. We are not blessed with a strong team like Aystralia (till 2009). If u want entertainment, watch some movies
