only inclusion of kapil is worth debating , and it is a case of 19 or 20 equation between imran khan and kapil dev. I agree imran khan should have been instead of kapil

what is the whole point if the process is rigged??
by Hari on Jul 19, 2011 03:25 PM  | Hide replies

Indian fans rabid voting is the only reason for the selection of some players, who by any imagination cant hold a candle to the acknowledged masters of the game. The greatest XI published by ESPNCricinfo, has put out their first eleven second eleven and readers eleven as follows. Even this list is not without its controversies, but with the eminent panelists involved and the transparent voting and logic for the selection, this list is quite a better accurate representation of Crickets' modern day greats.

This ICC list should not be taken into true light and fans need not rejoice the inclusion of 4 Indians in it. They can always rest assured that any online poll can be easily rigged by the power of numbers, and contrarian results need not be expected. So no Aussie or English or even paki playes beyond the usual sus.. So lets acknowledge the all time greats and revel in their brilliance and contribution to the game rather make further pointless all time lists.

The World XI: Jack Hobbs, Len Hutton, Don Bradman, Sachin Tendulkar, Viv Richards, Garry Sobers, Adam Gilchrist, Malcolm Marshall, Shane Warne, Wasim Akram, Dennis Lillee

The Second XI: Sunil Gavaskar, Barry Richards, George Headley, Brian Lara, Wally Hammond, Imran Khan, Alan Knott, Bill O'Reilly, Fred Trueman, Muttiah Muralitharan, SF Barnes

Readers' XI: Sunil Gavaskar, Virender Sehwag, Don Bradman, Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Garry Sobers, Adam Gilchrist, Shane Warne, Wasim Akram, Muttiah Muralitharan, Mcgra

Just a time pass!!
by Nationalistic Patriot on Jul 19, 2011 03:19 PM

All this does not make sense and is more of a time pass only.Only when there is a team for a super test which will be played in reality is this exercise of any use.

Allan Donald instead of Waqar Younis.

Warne instead of Murali, because, murali is not a great performer outside Sri Lanka. He has taken 550 wickets inside SL.

I think the team selection is good. You have openers like Sachin & Gilchrist, YOur middle order is very strong in presence of DON,Gary & VIV & also the bowling because of Holding, WAquar, Botham, Imran, Laker & Murali.

What else you need?

Team is Correct ... BUT..
by nt g on Jul 19, 2011 02:47 PM

ICC's Greatest Test Team is Correct Choice .
BUT better alternative Was to select Two Teams.
When pitted against Each other, It's Final Supiriority can Be Topic of Great Debate. , People from around the world could have decided the ultimate Winner of Best Two Teams.
There needs to be Fight between Two All Time Top Teams based on Technical and Statistical Ground .
