Cricket fans from the present era will not be aware of Gary sobers, Richard Hadlee etc. Yes, these players statistic look good on paper and perhaps you can watch documentary videos of their achievement but fans will not have any experience of watching them play live on tv or in a stadium. So, it's natural for fans from the present era to select players such as Sehwag instead of Gordon Greenich or Jack hoobs etc. I also feel that such comparison are wrong because the game of Cricket has changed significantly and it has become more entertainment driven.
1 jeff thompson ( according to reasearch one of the fastest bolwer might have bowled at 170 KMPH) 2 matthew hayden (superb batsmen ) 3 ricky ponting ( suberb batsmen b) 4 richard haedley 5 rahul dravid 6 ian bothham 7 javed miadad 8 kapil dev 9 vengksarkar 10 anil kumble 11 murali 12 jaisurya
the list is endless and the time will miss these lions as the current form of cricket is killing the real cricket and soon we will see fast bowlers in museum only 4
1. SM Gavaskar, 2. B. Richards, 3. DG Bradman, 4. SR Tendulkar, 5. G. Sobers, 6. A Gilchrist, 7. DK Lillee, 8. MA Holding, 9. Kapil Dev, 10. S.Warne, 11. J. Laker.

Sachin and sehwag are included here because they played some good fast bowlers like wasim akram ,waqar younis ,brett lee, shoaib akhtar ,allan donald, glen mcgrath the dream test team or any dream team would be a joke as in future we will not be having a battle between the ball and the bat i once remember the dialogue of glen mcgrath when asked by a reporter why you get angry when anyone hit a four or six on your baal so he replied i got angry when any one even scores a 1 or 2 so you can imagine what if he hit a six to me i am gonna take a revenge this type of cricket is dead

Well, well, well. Hard to decide who is more stupid. You mince no words to abuse a reader and in the end, make a fool of yourself by saying the guy voted for congress. His id clearly suggests he is 'anti' congress (hence he can never be termed stupid!!). Better to read properly before commenting about others' knowledge.
I started watching cricket since 1987. So can make my dream test XI from 87 onwards. It looks like..... 1.Hayden 2.Sehwag 3.Ponting 4.Sachin 5.Richards 6.Steve Wagh 7.Gilchrist 8.Akram 9.Donald 10.Ambrose 11.Warne

If we ignore stats it's a good team but not the best according to players stats.
only inclusion of kapil is worth debating , and it is a case of 19 or 20 equation between imran khan and kapil dev. I agree imran khan should have been instead of kapil

You have not seen Botham. Neither have you seen Sobers. Greg Chappel had a great career. During his time he was considered the best batsman over batsman like Gavaskar and Richards. Even Derek Underwood is the all time greatest left arm orthodox spinners.
Basically team is being chosen by the present generation cricket lovers who have not seen the past players. they have included the DON because of his stature in the media and not because the present generation really realises that he is the greatest. Unfortunately amongst the online voters 70% has been from India where majority of the cricket lovers do not understand the game but they have started to love the sports more because of local media frenzy. It can be easily conclude that this team is real joke like what Stewart aid.

Do not go by absolute figures. Go by the relative figures such as Wicket per match or per innings or per number of balls bowled, you will find Botham is twice a better bowler than Kapil. Kapil to get his record of highest wicket taker (434 wkts) took 11 matches to get the last 30 wickets. as a batsman he is far better than kapil in terms of total runs scored, average, strike rate, etc. so he is a better al-rounder than Kapil

its abount bowling alrounder not batting alrounder , compare the number of wickets between sobers and kapil or imran
sobers wicket have come from west indian pitches where as kapil or imran wickets have come from flat subcontinent wicket
