Apart from the wicket keeper, i have to agree with this selection. Alan Knott/ Kirmani were much better than Gilchrist. His own predeccesor ,Ian Healy, was a good glovemen, too.

Except for gilly ..this looks pretty good.Probably this wud have been the eleven if we Indians were barred from the poll :-)
The team was selected on the basis of overall success. Hence, Viv Richards was not selected. Instead Lara was selected. Hence, Kapil was selected over Richard Hadlee as an all rounder. Similar reasons are applicable in respect of the other selections. Hence, some legendary pacers were left out. Who can think of replacing Veeru and Sachin when success rate is considered? ICC has to consider success rate only and it can not give importance to nostalgic or mythical considerations.

Great team. You are very knowledgeable. Only I cannot look beyond Gilchrist for the impact he brings with his batting. Perhaps add Richards for Kallis. I like your choice of Victor Trumper and your choice of Sachin as 12th man :)

In addition, I would like to adjust the batting order. Marshall was a very superior bat if you have seen him bat, so he will be my choice for #8 and Hadlee at #7 with Warne taking #9 followed by Holding who could hit sixes at will.

England will not win. BCCI has already taken care of the result just as they did with the WC Semis and Finals.

no idea abt BCCI's role here, but if england play to their potential there are certain winners without any doubt because they players are much more better than us..!
1. Jack Hobbs 2. Gavaskar - ack. as having the best technique 3. Bradman - Nobody disputes his inclusion 4. Richards - King of batsmen 5. Kallis - Best technique amongst batsmen of current generation 6. G Pollock 7. Gilchrist - Everybody's choice 8. Sobers - Most versatile all-rounder ever 9. Akram - Best leftie alongwith Davidson 10.Marshall - Most fearsome fast bowler ever and a very good lower order batsman 11. Warne - The one and only 12th man: Sachin or Botham (I would go for Botham for his ability to perform on the big stage)
