Cool Cool, donot be frustrated. SRT most coward guy could not even face the WI bowlers, and opted not to play. But Still Dhoni showed him, that he can win the series without he presence.

What dhoni showed him = by scoring 16,0, 2 & 5 runs & dropping two cathes. Last WI series dravid was captain still india win series 1-0 (sachin was not there). In WI team gyle/lara playing. India could have win the series in WI with any captain. What is role of dhoni in that. Even ODI series we won under raina captaincy. Its team strenghth which win matches & not captain. Your cricketing logic & hatred towards sachin is well exposed mr Asim. But we always expect this type of logic from any dhoni blind supporter
no doubt it was challanging to score 180 in 47 overs on last day, but dhoni & co could have done it. some time it seems that vijay & dravid was going on, but suddenly they put down their shoulders. Though we have won 1-0, but in view of the current WI team, it would have 3-0 !! all the best for ENG tour
Very smart decision by M.S. Dhoni. It was not a pitch to bat, and score 4-5 runs per over. Sometime situation demands to be defensive. The best part of the management is to maintain flexibility.

Cannot agree. Dhoni could have reshuffled the batting order and should have sent Kohili, Raina & Harbajan ahead of Dravid and Lakshman. I am sure 90 percent of the Indian viewers might have switched off the TV when they knew India was trying for a draw. If not for viewers, then for whom they are running this show. Had Shewag was there, he could have taken up the challenge single handedly. It is a real shame for world chanpians.
Certainly, the decision to settle for a draw shows "great mental maturity" M S Dhoni has. That has been his hallmark ever since he has assumed captaincy. Great work so far, Dhoni.
Also, it is very very apt that Coach Fletcher has backed this decision and has termed it "common sense". YES!!! Coach, go ahead and have a great time with this great Indian Team and a great captain, M S Dhoni.
All the best!!!
And... guys who think otherwise, etc... etc... all I can say is, think twice and introspect "thoroughly and thoroughly" before commenting and making mistakes... And, by the way, I do not know how much of cricket these "otherwise thinking people" have played and how much they know about cricket.... So, please think on all these things before commenting against the likings of great cricketers such as Rahul Dravid, M S Dhoni etc..

mr syed don't insult cricket by clubing great player like dravid with ordinary politicain dhoni. Being a blind political fan of dhoni- all true sports fan know about ur thinking ability. Don't expose it to world. Everyone know dhoni is a medicore batsman & offlate he is also proving a defensive captain. His score of 16,0, 2 & 5 in 1st 4 inning, 2 dropped catches & attacking captaincy is to be seen by entire world. Don't make fool of urself

common sence tells that the decision was very good instead of committing a harakiri, you settle for a dignified draw..

If you want to rule the world of cricket for a decade just like the aussies did then you need to have real adrenalin in you and not only common sense; I still remember the test match (Aus vs SA) in which days were lost due to rain and both teams decided that they will play like ODI on the last day with each team will declare after 40 overs; and the match was great; This needs guts... which you need to rule the world;

Great cricketing knowledge! This shows how much you know about cricket, Its not SA Vs Aus, its Eng Vs SA, Nasser Hussine and Hansie were the captains. Both teams declared their first innings and played only the second innings, sporting declaration by SA, setting target of 240 in 40 overs. Eng won the game. Don;t know which team played and you comment the match was great, have to laugh at you cricket knowledge and sense. The team did give a try, with Vijay trying to up the run rate and Sending Raina ahead of VVS and Kholi, Also the inputs from the batsmen playing in VVS and Dravid would have been taken into consideration. You think these two greats will let go an opportunity to win a test match. I don't think so.

Mr. Ashish, I am not a supporter of Dhoni, I am a normal supporter of "Indian Cricket Team". Then, what's wrong with Dhoni? who else you think is a good captain?

It was AUS vs NZ @ Gabba and it was thriling. India are happy with winning just one test in a away series

Any captain is as good as his team & there is nothing called good captain. But captain must desrve a place in team as a player first on merit. If u see dhoni records in last 6 test series overseas- he is failure in each & every series including presnet one as a batsman. On what basis he is allowed to ontinue in team. Any captain who secure his place in team as a player on merit will be better caprain than dhoni.

Dhoni is in the team as a Wicket Keeper, not a primary batsmen, accept he does not have technique to play in fast and bouncy pitches, and the facts are, We are No:1 in Test under Dhoni's leadership (Also the Championship awarded End of the Year for No.1 Test Team), we have won a T20 World Cup, and ODI World cup under him, What else you expect from him as a leader. If you are a leader or a manager, its all about how you manage your resource to produce the best possible result. Its not about you outperforming others.

Aus Vs NZ @ Gabba in Brisbane in 2001 when both S Waugh and S Fleming made great declarations and NZ had a target of 270 odd in 57 overs and in the end it came very close some 30 runs and 4 wickets in hand , match was drawn but both those declarations came on final day as days 2 3 and 4 were largely lost due to rain

There is no problem with the end result of draw, but there didn't try hard to chase the target and didn't justify with their rank.
I think this Indian team doesn’t deserve the sport of No. 1 as because of lack in fighting skill, lacking in confidence, missing do or die attitude etc.
One thing is sure we miss a lot the services of great Sachin, Veeru, Yuvi, Gambhir & Zaheer. Our youngsters are not enough to fill their space even halfer.
People should stop now, who say that Sachin should retire and he is not giving his place to youngsters.

You mean to say, Dhoni lacks confidence on his batsmen, and that's why he had to give up.
Re: Re: Lets hope do well in England
by ASHISH KUMAR on Jul 11, 2011 04:15 PM
dhoni lacks confidence in himself. Off course it will follow in his approach as captain also. he win courtsy player like sachin, dravid, laxman, sehwag, zaheer etc in team & declining Aus & other opposition. He himself always a medicore batsman & defensive captain.
It dpends on the situation or the kind of pitch one is playing. You are right:we were risking a series by chasing the target. But this cd have still been achived if we had shown more ofa postive approach and killer instinct which we lacked. There is lot of diff between being the no 1 side and dominant no 1 side which cd be only achived if u go for the kill and take up challnge. No 1 side shdnt be hapy with 1-0 win, rather they shd be dissapointed of nt having scorea 3-0 white wash.
