Dhoni - Total failure as a batsman
by rajashi ghosh on Jan 31, 2011 03:58 PM  | Hide replies

Dhoni's batting in South Africa was pathetic to say the least. I know that the World Cup is being held in India and that will come as a great relief to batsmen such as Raina and Dhoni who were at sea in the South African conditions. It is very surprising to know that there has been no criticism of Dhoni's performances with the bat. He did not play a single match-winning knock, except for the 90 which was in a losing cause. As a captain, you should lead from the front and Dhoni surely needs to pull up his socks.

Did you follow the all matches carefully?

What about his decider partnership with Laxman in 2nd test? What about his crucial partnership with Yuvi in 2nd ODI?

He played the above knocks when he is not in good touch.

Sometimes a 30-40 is more valuable than a useless 70-80 runs.

Dhoni's presence as a skipper is more then enough........Every run he scores is a bonus..he Can be there in teh team only as a Captain.... He may not be responsible to building the team what Ganguly did ..but he can take some cricketing decision in teh ground which clicks most of teh time...

Bhattacharya:

Well said. Dhoni can become non-playing captain and make way for a real player ; thereby leading an even stronger side. ;-)

Every WC we say same thing and final results zero so far, hope Doni dont select fielding in rainy condition to give opposition duckwoth rain advantage plus ?dhoni should keep in mindthat in pressure tournamants ,india laways fail to chas runs above 250,better bat first and throw bats to score 300 and win all games?

there is no allrounder like flintoff/watson/symonds/kallis/Jayasurya/Kapil Dev/Robin Singh/abdul razzaq/Imran khan/Angelo Mathews who can turn the match around. i feel like ifran pathan is missing. this squad is not complete
