The true balance
by Sundhar Bajaj on Jan 31, 2011 03:01 PM

The true balance the Indian team has is the balance of "winning and loosing" It has no excess weight on winning side.

My 11 for the world cup
by Giridhar on Jan 31, 2011 02:37 PM  | Hide replies

Sehwag - Well begun half done.
Gambhir - Best at opening position.
Sachin/Virat - Simple. Gambhir is not that good at no.3.
Yuvraj - May be out of form. But he is a match winner and will click in Indian conditions.
Raina - Might be failure in SA. But in India he will definately click.
Dhoni - We dont have better wicker keeping batsman than him(at least in ODI).
Yousuf - He can win matches single handedly.
Harbhajan - Recent series he bowled well. Can bat too.
Zaheer - Expirienced and can bat.
Praveen - Smart bowler and can bat.
Munaf/Nehra - Pick any one. both are weak.

One move may cost you the match and that will happen if we dont start with Sehwag and Gambhir. Mark my words.

Batting is all right
by Sports Lover on Jan 31, 2011 02:34 PM  | Hide replies

But what about bowling. Death bowling has been India's biggest problem in recent past when playing on flat pitches. That has to be corrected.

Last was Agarkar who used to bowl reverse swing yorkers in slog overs. Let see how Zaheer and Nehra performs.

Balance of squad........
by Anurag Rathore on Jan 31, 2011 02:28 PM

India WC squad is most balanced but India's chances will depend on playing X1 balance. It's tough for Dhoni to find a proper balanced playing X1.

Dhoni, Yuvaraj are in very bad form...
by syedatjannat on Jan 31, 2011 02:27 PM

They are the worst players currently other than that all other players are in good form.
I would like to have two changes, Uthappa or Irfan pathan instead of Yuvaraj and to send Yusuf pathan at no:3 for batting.

Indian WC team
by ram kumar on Jan 31, 2011 02:27 PM

No doubt there is balance in the Indian team for the WC. But the most imp thing how many of these players are performing currently. May be a handful and are the bowlers capable of restricting or taking 10 wickets. No doubt India's strength is the batting. But bowlers have to contribute as well and dont forget the fielding. WC is a huge platform and holding nerves is important. The key to the WC is the self belief, commitment, passion to be the best.

by pradeep on Jan 31, 2011 02:20 PM

this team is not a balanced one.... the bowling part should be aggressive.... should include sreesanth..... but our side is filled with poor unfit school level bowlers.... this team will not reach second round...

Problems with balance

No anchorman like Dravid in the team to hold the innings together.
Captaincy, very important, is missing.

Sachin would play the anchor role with all others attacking around him, that would definitey be the plan.

Balance
by Shax on Jan 31, 2011 02:09 PM

The team will be tested in the battle field. Technically team is balanced on the paper but the truth will be exposed only when the team performs under such pressure in a different ball game...let the nerves be tested and rest goes live to the world.

What is a world cup when India does not have to qualify
by Prasad Damodaran on Jan 31, 2011 02:04 PM  | Hide replies

India and some of the nations does not have to qualify to enter the World Cup and few countries have to like Canada etc. but the pity is that 11 out of 10 is an Indian in these teams as well, no action like Chineese, Koreans and Germans playing the fools game.
