WC-Sachin-part2
by Bada Bhai on Jan 16, 2011 11:45 PM

Unfortunately if India loses, you would find him playing the game till India wins one WC and he would not mind playing along with Arjun Tendulkar in an ODI to achieve his dream..that is his skill ands child-like passion that keeps him firing...So India must finally win , so that Sachin may possibly think of not pursuing the game further at the international levels give and would possibly hang his boots getting all the adulations he continues to deserve.

By the way, I am not a Sachin-hater. I really admired over the years how he carried himself, played and bought the game international repute. Words are not enough to describe his mastery over the sport and no doubt he has proved be a cricketing genius of all times. He has played in all forms of cricket and proved his mettle.
However of late Sachin is not the one I knew and admired…doesn’t mean I admire him less, as still today at this age he has the child-like passion to play and win…one can’t expect him to perform in every match and he has performed consistently on all pitches. His 200 recently against SA in Gwalior is a masterpiece and many more may come. But then even though he is a great player he has to understand the call of his age and also the demand of team and country. Though understandably his passion for cricket makes him play and play and the more he plays, his game will be put under the dissecting microscope since people ( including his previous compatriots) still can’t believe that he is going strong at this age. Though his lack of nick in ODI is a matter of time, I sincerely wish he continues to play the classical form of game for a long time as he can display all his skills. Possibly he should take the route of Dravid and Laxman for that matter
I sincerely wish that India wins the World Cup (WC) for 2 reasons: One that India has the potential ,provided they apply themselves and second that

world cup: only eight nations play cricket and among them west indies is not a nation at all. What world are we talking about? we can hardly get any olympic medal.....
If indians had more passion for some other game, things would have been better. But then the whole world is ruled by corporates and so is Cricket at least in India (population counts). So we find God of Cricket there......Such records would have been made by Waugh, Lara etc if they really had desired to keep on playing as yet but then they were graceful..

can you take pride in calling yourself a once WC winner if you are settled in US. can we really tell the world that we know any other game other than cricket? i guess the same doesn't hold for US or any other nation who is not so much obsessed with only one game.

I am sorry if i have offended your feeling Bada Bhai. I agree with you. I just want to convey that cricket is game which has been hijacked by corporates in India and they only produce god of cricket to promote their business. no other game gives a chance to promote their stuff after every 6 balls in a continuous manner for the whole day. Unfortunately because of Cricet, we have become myopic so far as other games are concerned and we just find a respite for sometime from our frustration that we cannot do better in other games.

Lolers.. for all people who are saying he is playing for records and selfish...
lemme tell you some basics of cricket first. cricket is a team game. A team should bowl well, bat well, field well to win a series .A batsman can win one, two or few matches in a series but not all the matches for the obvious reasons.

If he is playing for records, howcome he was the man of the series in 2003 world cup.His average in world cup is 58 .
WHAT RECORD HE HAS BEEN TRYING TO ESTABLISH SINCE 3 WORLD CUPS?? ANSWER IS WORLD CUP TO INDIA.
he wants to bring world cup to India and u people still blame him.

you never blame the remaining 10 members who dont contribute.

God of Cricket or just a common cricketer
by ashutosh gupta on Jan 16, 2011 11:14 PM  | Hide replies

If he is the so called God of Cricket, then he must be having some super natural power and so like our God should never ever suffer from injury, sickness etc etc.
Alas, that doesn't happen because today's God are more interested in money & fame making and so do all kind of tricks to dupe poor & passionate indian psychic mind.

a) If you MUST talk about selfish records of strike rates and averages, then you MUST also talk about selfish records of team-saving and match-saving centuries... ;-)

Well, not sure on what intent Abdullah has wrote. But as an Indian, Iam personally disappointed with the way Tendulkar has played for the last say 6 yrs at least. He just plays for himself and only for records and if the team wins its collateral gain. Just tell me why should he play for IPL and pose as if he is sacrificing his spot for a youngster in T20 international?

Yes becoz IPL has so many teams nd so many players...but in the Indian team...only 11 will play...nd IPL is just for the entertainment...that's it.....we all would be so happy if the other 10 also played for records...then team India would atleast not loose any match.....it is always said that Sehwag will hit a six even if he is on 99...so what is the big deal...that is the only way he knows to play....he will not try to kill time in the middle even if that is the need of the hour....so that is sehwag the great for u....
