A Frank Opinion

I was grooved to the television for the time of auction just to catch the excitement and know the fate of Ganguly. I just couldnt believe that he's not been picked up by any of the teams! The next day, I was even more curious whether he'll make a cut. But to my dismay, it never happened.

It's saddening for many of us who wont see him playing again!

But when dejected fans accuse IPL, KKR, SRK for his exclusion, I rate it as an over-reaction.

We've to understand that it was an open auction and 10 guys could not sing in unision of secluding Ganguly. It's not charity and everybody tried to buck them up with possible younger blood and team-performers. Ganguly might not have fallen in their thick of things. Why grudging?

Nobody can take away from Ganguly what he has achieved for his country! It's not a face-loss. It's just a phase-loss.

I'm sure, sooner than later, Ganguly will come back in a new avatar to fascinate us!

Same is the story for the other real big names which could not find water under their boats!

Money, more money
by Kishore Shetty on Jan 09, 2011 11:57 PM

The whole auction process has proved that cricket is a commodity which is being used for making more money. Where is adulation, love and respect left. It is difficult to imagine Team India without their stalwarts like TEndulkar, Dravid, Sehwag, Laxman, etc. who have served for a long time. In a similar manner these stalwarts have turned up for their Ranji Teams with pride and passion. Now except for a few these stalwarts will have to represent some team which they do not belong to. Professionally they may adhere to their contracts and play against the teams where they were once icons but it would not be easy to judge as to what would be their mindset when they play against their ex-teams. Will they be able to do their best. In the event they really do well, which I pray for, then what would be the mindset of the paying public. Can the people of Hyderabad digest the fact that Laxman plays against Deccan Charges which is a team from Hyderabad, similary Dravid against Bangalore Royal Challengers etc. It would not make a happy picture.
