Dravid should prove his critics wrong....
by Common Man on Jan 09, 2011 11:19 PM  | Hide replies

Dravid will be remembered as one of the best Test players India ever had. But, like he took time to adjust his game to ODIs, he's considered a liability in T20s due to his more orthodox game. T20 is about momentum players like Saurav Tiwary, Uthappa, etc. So, having been picked by R'Royals in IPL-4, Dravid should prove his critics wrong by scoring at a brisk pace, like the youngsters in his team. Good luck Dravid !!

He doesn't need to prove any thing that things can be said by new commer in cricket knowledge. he is highest run getter in ipl1 & one of top performer in ipl3. Those who said he has to prove go psychologist

Dravid has everything in him to succeed in T20. Only thing going against him is his age. At this stage, he cant him nonsensical shots. But, if you compare Dravids T20 performance over his peers, he still has done pretty well. Its probably the image that is creating the problem. Bangalore could not keep Dravid, Uthappa, and Vinay Kumar. I dont how this new team will be identified with Bangalore or Karnataka?

don't understand why people expect dravid has to play for RCB and Sachin to MI & saurav to KKR..Just belonging to a place is not enough, such a huge price to be given out when you are not figuring in ODI & T20 format & you still expect business tycoons spend money on you?? senti..idi..

IPL is just a Professional League
by exit reality on Jan 09, 2011 11:12 PM  | Hide replies

The owners has the last say. They invest money based on their calculations. If it is just business, it cannot succeed. Cricket needs little luck too. Dravid is one of the greatest player in the world, with great devotion. He never played politics and have no godfathers in cricket. Let him play his cricket as long as he wish and as long as franchise ready to buy him. I think Rajastan made a good investment on Dravid. All the best Dravid...

Kumble will spoil RCB unless
by Onlooker on Jan 09, 2011 11:09 PM

Kumble will spoil RCB unless RCB players learn to ignore him right from the beginning. Kumble was furious with his team mates in the final stages of the matche in SA whenever the players have to make a slightest mistake. This evaporated even a little co-operation he got from India and International players. I expect this non co-operation to re-start if Kumble were to be the major decision maker in fielding the team.

IPL-4 drama comes to an end....finally
by Common Man on Jan 09, 2011 11:03 PM

Having watches the telecast of the auction quite a bit, I felt the mood in the room was quite in favour of the youngsters (looking at a 3-yr horizon). However, even those who got 'sold' should thank their stars, and the moment when their bids came up during the auction. Gambhir getting bid for $2.4 mn seemed sheer luck as his name came up first yesterday. Had some of the top-slot players got their bids come up later in the day, or worse, today, am sure they wouldn't have got such a fab deal. Also, the auction was not a reflection of competence or abilities of a player. Lara, Ganguly, Gayle and other 'seniors' not being bid is a case in point.
Moreover, certain teams not bidding for certain ex-players of their team implied some behind-the-scenes issues which we are not aware of. Perhaps, Dravid's case is one such, and so was Yuvraj Singh's. So much for sportsmanship !!
