by Gulab on Jan 09, 2011 01:14 AM

Quite illogical...why can't they pay in indian rupees later converted to their respective currencies?

Chennai should get Murali Kartik, Munaf Patel and the rest should be their domestic players. The team is looking so strong now that we have retained our core players.

Nothing against IPL but ....
by Indian on Jan 08, 2011 11:30 PM  | Hide replies

It is obscene to see so much money being paid when so many people starve and commit suicide in India out of desperation. Again, nothing against IPL but still .... looks bad. Wish there was more balance.

You are against IPL and jealous already. Irrelevant post.

If you get the starving people, start feeding them and at the same time telecast live on TV, would you watch that?

If you watch that, we can run commercials and pay thousands of dollars (if not millions) to the starving people. Stop lecturing.

You have got to love the metaphor in this auction!

Indian people live like cattle and

Indian players are being bought and sold like cattle!

What a proud day to be an Indian!!

Well Said...Sharad...even i don’t find any sense of highlighting these things...maybe they does make sense to committed cricket viewers or fans...but at the end of the day we won’t get nothing except fun...people just waste their time and money behind this things...i like cricket...but there has to be some balance between sports and reality.....if my figures are not wrong then as per BBC report...In last one decade more than 3 lakh farmers have killed themselves and millions of them left farming and agriculture....no wonder why food prices are rising...god knows what will happen further down the track...god bless India and should give some intelligence to ordinary man so that they can make difference between good and evil…..

You don't understand auctioning in sports. It's been going on for several decades in the west. NBA, NFL, NHL, EPL etc. pay big for players that represent their respective clubs.

What's the point in explaining to you when you can't understand the logistics of sporting leagues.

Though i don’t have to respond to u r post...still i would like to because it's kind a scratching my back where i m not comfortable...NBA,NFL,NHL,EPL all is being organised by DEVELOPED countries and whereas India is still developing and they (DEVELOPED countries )do have proper measures to control Inflation and growth of their countries where as our nation is doing nothing...and i am not against of these auctions...what my point is...whatever platform they are providing to encourage this events, they can make an same effort to enhance situation of farmers who are on the edge of getting themselves killed...these auctions are just meaningless and you watch my words they will create more rift between rich and poor…deprived and flourished

These are cricketers, they have a market and they are getting paid. And these cricketers represent a very minute lot.

There are other responsible people (such as govt., politicians) who should take care of inflation, growth, farmers. If you are concerned about the nation's problems, knock the doors of right authority.

For every reason don't blame these cricketers. Cricketers are meant to play cricket and let them play cricket. If they are making tons of money, perhaps they are deserved to make, and let them make.
