why this anger?? this sound like a die hard saurav ganguly fan ...too bad he did not have the sense that Kumble had !!-he would have looked good sitting on that table discussing player strategy rather than out there on the field , competing with the best with rusty technique and no match practise.
The common man fund the money required and the bollywood stars and other investors in IPL along with rich players take it. A big chunk is going abroad with foreign players. These funds if invested in stock market or other places will benefit the people of India. The effect of IPL is a net flow of money from poor and common man to rich bollywood stars, cricketers and IPL investors. Also a waste of several man hours resulting no net output for Indian GDP

That too for watching FIXED matches. What happened into the enquiry against Lalit Modi, IPL corruption etc? Too many scams in the country right now i guess...no time to investigate IPL.

WHY SO MUCH CRAZE OF CRICKET A GAME PLAYED BY 11 PERSONS AND OBSERVED BY 11MILION FOOLS.
I care a damn if a Yousuf, or Tiwari is sold for 2 million and if a Lara or Ganguly is left unsold in IPL. Can even most of these high priced guys even ever fit into the shoes of these legends ? I dont think one should go by these crazy prices. Just bcos someone got more than Sachin does he become a greater player than him ?
Re: Re: Legends are not made of auctions prices but sheer talent.
by DevD on Jan 08, 2011 09:31 PM
That's right. Besides he does not even play in the Ranji Trophy matches, to keep himself fit and in form. He could have spared himself this embarrassment.

I think I'm disappointed and amazed by Cris Gale's result. They could have purchased him for .4 million and I think every team has missed the opportunity !

I think WI national team have other tournaments during IPL matches due that no one preferred to take Christ Gale.

Besides Chris Gayle is a very erratic performer...lacks commitment...he performed quite poorly for KKR till now.

This is not a charity match to select players based on their past performance..

That will show how the bidding for tomorrow will go. MI have not been in any serious bids they might be waiting for some teams to drain their resources today.
It is clear that the idiots who run IPL have lots of black money and very little understanding of cricket. Otherwise no one would pay such high prices for jokers like Saurabh Tiwary, Piyush Chawla, Uthappa, Ravindra Jadeja and T20 failures like David Hussey and Pujara. They simply pay high prices for un-talented Indian players so that they can be easily pressurized into fixing matches. I believe this will be difficult with the English players, and that's why they have been ignored. IPL is a sham and a scam...a venue for match-fixing and all kinds of nefarious underworld activities...where druglords like Mallaya and Bollywood stars are involved, you can be sure that darkness and deceit are deeply entrenched.

Stuart Broad, Kevin pieterson, Eoin Morgan and Colling Wood are selected. Are they not from England? Know the facts before commenting. Have you watched the performance of saurab Tiwari in the last IPL. He is a hitter like y.Pathan.T20 demands selection of such people. Do you know how players are fixed? If demand is more from other teams, the prices of player in bidding will be more. If franchisees sees their usefulness they will quote high prices. If another team wants they have to outbid the original franchisee. Like wise price quoted is high depends upon the utility of the players. that is how some times even if the players are not worth the money, the team has to pay to buy them . Without understanding any thing simply you are commenting

David Hussey in the Champions trophy scored heavily against all opposite teams . That is why high price. Pujara recently against Australia scored impressively in the Debut. The franchisees are not fools, they are supported by former Players and coaches. Based on that only they select team. Simply for the sake of crticising them dont blabber
Re: Re: Re: High prices for idiots
by DevD on Jan 08, 2011 09:20 PM
This is a T20 team...not a test match. Pujara is a Test player, and David Hussey has been an awful performer for KKR all along, with an abysmal strike rate.
Re: Re: High prices for idiots
by DevD on Jan 08, 2011 09:18 PM
Everyone knows how an auction is conducted. But the prices of un-talented criketers like Saurabh Tiwary, who does not know how to play a front foot drive on the off-side, goes up because many franchisee owners think that they can be easily manipulated to fix matches. This is particularly true for franchisees like B'lore, King Xi and R' Royal who are run by corrupt corporates and filmstars. Some people like you will never learn. And pls do not place any bets on Tiwary...we saw his misrable batting in one ODI...he gets selected because of Dhoni.
Re: High prices for idiots
by Ian Chappell on Jan 08, 2011 08:52 PM
yes its was surprising. I think KKR must have been thinking right now that they paid too much for Gautam. I think if Gautam couldn't perform then it will be difficult for Gautam to retain his place in KKR for the same money next year !! If the results wouldn't not come this year too KKR will surely sell him even in loss !!
Re: Re: High prices for idiots
by Arindam Sen on Jan 08, 2011 08:57 PM
Don't worry. Gauti will perform and my bet is that he will be the captain of KKR this time.
Re: Re: Re: High prices for idiots
by Ian Chappell on Jan 08, 2011 09:06 PM
They picked him as captaincy material and they made up there mind to pick him as captain beforehand....no 2nd option ! thats why they went for him but I think its indigestible for giving 2.4 million for Gautam and not giving even .4 million for Cris Gale....Just Shocking !!
Re: High prices for idiots
by fulltoo dhamal on Jan 08, 2011 08:49 PM
Agreed at a great extend... Is Chawla, Ashwin better than Swann? Irfan Pathan, Utthappa with such a huge amount? Dat's beyond imagination
Re: Re: High prices for idiots
by DevD on Jan 08, 2011 09:05 PM
My point exactly. Apart from Kevin Pietersen, not a single English player has been selected. And ENGLAND is the WORLD T20 CHAMPION !!!!! What does that mean?? Everyone knows that the ECB is very harsh on match fixers...so only Indian and Australian players are willing to fix matches, which is why franchisees are paying astronomical sums for completely talentless cricketers from these two countries.
Re: Re: High prices for idiots
by Ian Chappell on Jan 08, 2011 08:59 PM
even I'm amazed to see Cris Gale's result. For Gautam you are spending 2.4 million and for Gale you don't have .4 million in your kitty !! Just NONSENSE !!

We should all try to understand how the insanely corrupt corporates and media fool the general public and take away their money.
