Pl.select G.Gambhir as a Caption in place of MSD since G.Gambhir
by anil thakur on Jan 07, 2011 01:33 PM

Make a Caption G Gambhir and select P.Patel as a wicket keeper cum batsman. It help Indian to win since India lost chance due to short of 50 / 60 runs due to failure MSD batting.

Dhoni & Lady Luck
by gladson dalmeida on Jan 07, 2011 01:30 PM  | Hide replies

Let's be honest about it! Lady Luck does stand with Dhoni and despite his own poor form in these 24 tests, guys like Sehwag, Gambhir, Lax, Tendulkar and Dravid have been brilliant. The bowling department except Zaheer has been poor to the say the least. Most of these 24 matches have been set up by our batsman. Coming to captaincy, I still believe, Dhoni is not the team man. He is a perfect diplomat out on the pitch who wants to protect his reputation, his average etc rather than his team. Add his defensive captaincy. The last test at Cape Town could have been ours, if there was attacking field at 130/6. All have seen how defensive he was. Then again chasing 340, openers were clearly told, not even to give a try perhaps. The way Sehwag began, it was clear what was the instruction from the captain. Ganguly could have done this in a different way, perhaps asking Sehwag to do what he does best and in case Sehwag fell, the defence could have been thought, depending on the scoreboard. Thirdly in if Dhoni was not the captain, he could not have played 24 tests, especially with the kind of a form that he is in. He has been anything but a batsman often. On field I often feel, he is a captain who lacks ideas and skilss to handle situations. But luck he is with him much like Jogi Sharma bowling that final over in WC final. That was the only time Jogi succeeded, never before and never after. So he surely has Mida's Touch with loads of luck. But as a batsman and player, he's a failure!

Lets be honest about it! You opinion is highly biased by CASTE BASED POLITICS of India. You as usual will try the level best to snatch credit away from him by naming luck!

By the way he is doing a great job as Captian hope you may digest it! or that also depends on luck ha ha!

Well agree with you...Dhoni's just pure luck....Lucky to have tendulkar, VVS, Sehwag and Gambhir, Zaheer in prime form...His defensive captaincy cost us the series here and we Indians are always happy with a draw because we lack that killer instinct..If the team wants to be like the Aussies of the last decade, then this defensive captaincy and thinking has to be thrown out of the team....

gladson, what poor form are you talking about. in 24 tests as a captain he played 34 innings 4 times not out, 1503 runs with 50.10 average, 3 100s and 11 50s.

As a captain he has 58 runs average in winnings causes in tests.

That seems bad record to you???

Great job Sir!
Manny below want to undermine your great efforts by giving credit to luck... (quite funny) is a case of plain Caste based politics which is highly prevelant in India.

By the way you did a tremendeous job for the country & team as your leadership has CONSISTENCY (of winning) as a Captian which speaks for you.

It needs strategy, picking up right teammates at right order and of course honesty to achieve this top slot. Keep it Up!

India lost chance due to short of 50 / 60 runs due to batting failure of MSD..Therefore, now Indian Should select P.Patel as a Wicket Keeper Cum batsman inplace of MSD and Pl.select G.Gambhir as a Caption in place of MSD since G.Gambhir is having better winning record and midas touch than MSD

how many runs he has scored on his 24 captain innings.. hardly within in 1000 runs.. dhoni is the luckiest guy.. he will soon become another ponting once sachin, laxman, dravid, zaheer , harbajan goes out..

Folks

Why focus on what he did not do . Leadership is key in winning these games and do not forget Dhoni is Captain-WK-Batsman all rolled into one. Under him entire dressing room atmosphere is fantastic in all the formats of game.

Yes , I agree that we have a great legendary team today in Laxman,Dravid, Zaheer etc but I give full marks to Dhoni and BCCI's approach today of strengthening the reserve bench. The might was at display during NZ ODIs and shows that if captain continues the good work, we are right on track for the next generation of cricketers as well.

i agree to your point , but 2 points to be note here are that

1)NZ team was beaten by a team india minus dhoni, tendu, dravid, zaheer etc .....

2) Earlier Bangaladesh has beaten a full fledge indian team also......

Balming some player or painting unrealistic picture of another is the Indian fans way. It seems like people just need reasons to vent their frustration.

Dear Aravinda,

you have left out only a few more to go out sehwag, gambhir, ishant & others. if everyone of the above had gone dhoni would also have gone by that time. do not worry. he is of the same age of sehwag, gambhir, zaheer, harbajan.

by the by dhoni has been doing great job. it is not easy to captain the indian with so many giants like sachin, dravid, laxman, sehwag. he is the one who is respected by these players & hence he is leading the team.

on many occasions he led from the front by his performances.

more than that he has tremandous cricketing brain which he showed by sending pujara against australia ahead of dravid.

hence do not always find faults with others which is a bad habit.

Huhumba Lulumba, WORST toss record is not as important as WIN tests record.

out of 16 lost tosses in 24 tests, india has won 10 lost 3 and drawn. that is important.

Great win record even if Worst toss record.
