Dhoni takes credit for winning but when India loses, he passes the buck to either bowlers or batsmen. Sometime he comes with fielding excuses also. His leadership qualities are yet to be fully convinced by his deeds.
In fact its not Kallis who took away game from India, it was Dhoni's ultra-defensive and unimaginative captaincy that let South Africa off the hook. By no means I want to deny credit to Kallis for his outstanding efforts but at the same time I don't understand why did Dhoni not go for the kill when South Africa was 5 down 98? Dhoni should introspect his attitude and leadership skills. Another big joke Harbhajan claiming he did not get support from other bowlers...LOL. Honestly, it is time for India to look for other spin options, I kind of find it hard to recall any efforts from Harbhajan of late outside sub-continent that resulted in India's victory. May be he now belongs to commentry box, he has shown enough talent for that position by being unappropriated spokesperson of Team India.

Totally agree. Ultra defensive attitude from the World No. 1 team is pathetic!
Dhoni is just pure luck....Lucky to have tendulkar, VVS, Sehwag and Gambhir, Zaheer in prime form...His defensive captaincy cost us the series here and we Indians are always happy with a draw because we lack that killer instinct..If the team wants to be like the Aussies of the last decade, then this defensive captaincy and thinking has to be thrown out of the team....Had we finished off the south africans and won this series, it would have put a full stop to the western media's cries that India should not be No.1 and all other criticisms...He is not a good captain either, he shouldnt have spoken of Sreesanth publicly...He can correct him in the dressing room but not in the media...A good leader is one who takes the blame and give credits to the team when due...When his luck runs out he will be thrown out of the team...

So who are you? Ranji captain? Binoy is absolutely right. Any cricket follower with some common sense can understand what he is saying.

Looking at ur comments it looks like u have not even watched cricket not even in ur backyard...dhoni is an idiot captain with a team having the best batting line up in the world and one fass bowler and one spin who is among the best in the world atleast in current scenario (in the absence of mcgrath, akram and all), inspite of ejnoying one of the strongest team in the world he manages to draw a test series, and almots loosing one...had Gream smith not been so defensive india would have lost big time...

AUS won 3 consecutive world cups, when did India do this last time, if ppl say Aussie cheated in Sydney test thn India cheated in Bombay test ith one of the most horrible picthes in the history where the test match was finished in 3 days...koi bhi ddodh ka dhoola nahi hai...

we won against aus 2-0 last 2 series. if aus won consecutive 3 WC and so are best. then eng and SA won not a single time the WC. so how they can be no. 1?
Re: Re: India
by B C on Jan 07, 2011 03:06 PM
aussies didnot win in eng in 2005 and in SL(they managed one series win SL and in India in the last 30 years plus) they were never the No.1 team for India anyday... 3 wcs is a farce... may be luck factor and umpire steve bucknor factor in 2 wcs favoured them

Aussies had great players like McGrath Warne,Gilli Waugh who turn games on ther own,its intresting to see how India feels the gap once Rahul Sachin and Laxman retires from Test cricket.Australia suffers a lot by retirnment of these players "Ashesh" which is Bigger than WC for Engalnd & Aus
From a position where India could have one the test match, the battled out to make a draw. Now what went wrong with India. 1. The additional Score of 60 put by Kallis and Tsotobe in the First innings. We could not find any good field placing from Mr. Dhoni who is hailed for his unconventional field placings. Kallis was scoring his runs square of both stumps and my god what to say. 2. Slow scoring rate by SRT and Gambhir in the first innings not only arrested India's chance but also cost Gambhir his well desired century. 3.Lack of aggression in bowling in the second innings by pacers not only made thing easy for SA but they score freely.
WE all understand that Cricket is a game and some times you tend to flatter. But after three days of nearly dominating the game, and yet finding ourselves for fight to safe a test is too much for the public. If India was fighting for a draw, he must have sent Pujara as Number 3 so that we could test him further. At least spending ten overs there in the middle might have worked his confidence and that might have helped him when playing abroad.
Re: Planning Went wrong
by AimX on Jan 07, 2011 01:59 PM
Your point about Pujara is correct. He could have been sent in at No.3 to test his capabilities as a top order batsman, since we were settling for a draw.

HAD SRT & GAMBHIR NOT PLAYED CAUTIOUSLY INDIA WOULD HAVE LOST THE GAME ON DAY 4 ITSELF AGAINST BOWLING ATTACK OF DALE STEYN,MORKEL ETC.THEY ARE NOT FOOLS LIKE OUR ARROGANT GOOD FOR NOTHING SREESANTH & LAZY ISHANT SHARMA.
by any other way ..no 1 can credit performances to captian.........with no statergy what so ever ...evident in crunch like day before yday..when SA where 130/6..or for the matter of fact....applying the same fundas to as that of subcontinent........guess theres no need of a captian other then going in for a toss....
Re: luck if u say...certainly yes...........
by gaurdain on Jan 07, 2011 01:43 PM
never the less he has the dream team...just short of a pacer...else the team is almost ideal.....
Re: Re: luck if u say...certainly yes...........
by Google on Jan 07, 2011 02:38 PM
i wouldsay he has got the dream team even the pacer, atleast in current scenario zaheer is one of the best pacer in the world, and why credit always goes to dhoni who has done nothing, cricket is a team game, its team india playing dhoni is doing nothing there
Re: Re: luck if u say...certainly yes...........
by siddhesh on Jan 07, 2011 02:46 PM
You are right. A Sreesanth who makes bowls 1 good ball and follows that up with 100 bad ones and a smattering of talk. An Ishant who more often than not loses his rhythm and goes haywire. A Dhobi whose captaincy goes on the defensive the moment the opposition start to attack. A highly ideal team. Wah wah!
India lost chance due to short of 50 / 60 runs due to batting failure of MSD..Therefore, now Indian Should select P.Patel as a Wicket Keeper Cum batsman inplace of MSD and Pl.select G.Gambhir as a Caption in place of MSD since G.Gambhir is having better winning record and midas touch than MSD

what midas touch.with gambhir as captain DD didn't reach even semis last time in ipl.ok ODI series against newzealand.he won 5-0 against a toothless side
Re: Re: Pl.select G.Gambhir as a Caption in place of MSD since G.

We want to select him as Caption for Indian Team not for DD Team
