The World Title of Cricket
by Sangram Sahu on Feb 24, 2011 01:02 PM  | Hide replies

The Richest people in the world do not play cricket. Chinese with highly critical populace in the world are far away from this game ? Less than one seventh of all the sovereign nations in the world only do have a choice for this game. Of them Canada, Netherland, UAE, Kenya, Zimbawe are hardly as serious or consistent as Bangladesh as fresh entrants. Then what big is left in this game ? Besides India, if the people of the rest of the cricket playing nations are put together will be less than half of the population of India. In India, we cannot claim everybody loves the game. So, what is left is a mere craze. Except, West Indies and Canada, people of that hemisphere is totally ignorant about the game.Except UK, none of the G-7 countries respond to the thrills of the game. If it is really a gentlemen's game as many claim then why it so less popular among majority of the people of the globe ? What ICC is doing to popularize the game, except quarreling with cricket boards for various contracts related to money ? Where does cricket stand in Europe, South and North America and Africa. It seems as if the game is confined to south-Asia and Australia. Does not the world title of the game look ridiculous ? If we Indians are so efficient in understanding the game, then what ICC under Sharad Powar and Jagmohan Dalmia have done towards this end are to be watched ? Please popularize the game before we provide it a world title.

Yes you dont wish them play this game because you are known for your inferiority complex. You very well know that, when these people come over to the pitch you people will vaporise, feel threatened and will be nowhere in the cricket map anymore.

kick out d minnows from the WC
by Sohan Jha on Feb 22, 2011 02:23 PM  | Hide replies

I think that WC should be event of Max. 10 team on the round robin basis to play wd each other. 4 top team out of them cn go to Semis. I think WC of 1992 is the best world cup we hav till date, & after dat it is just a pleasing act to associates members & downgrade d value of WC. 1992 was Best.

I think many ppl vl agree wd me

according to me 16 teams - 4 groups (A, B, C and D)of 4 team each. top two team from each group to form 2 group (E & F) of 4 each. top two from two group to form one more group (G). Final to be played between top two team from group G. This way there will be only 43 matches and all team will get sufficient time except final to prove themselves. in the current format even a single mistake can throw out a good team. Minnows should be promoted and we have seen upsets in almost all the world cups. These upsets makes world cup more interesting.

All top 8 or 9 teams should play each other once or twice. The top 4 will go to semi finals. This way a really talented team will win the world cup.

Modi could have saved World cup..
by Michael Angelo on Feb 22, 2011 07:36 AM  | Hide replies

'Take a cue from the IPL schedulers' - IPL was brilliant because of Modi. If Modi had been allowed to schedule World Cup he would have taken care of these minnow matches in way so as not to make the World Cup boring. The World Cup is so boring I hardly even read the news.
