Two things I don't understand being a cricket fan: 1) Why Sachin is so highly esteemed when there are 29 more probables? 2) Why people are so jealous about him saying 'he plays for his personal records'?
I am sure he is not playing against the other 10 for personal records. The other 10 players achievements are also being recorded if they achieve any. Let us stop hating Sachin as it doesn't effect him in any regards but only to play better day by day.

We want to see the team to shutup and put good performance. If I am the coach, I would issue a gag order. Nobody talks about this nonsense. Just talk about your training and how you are preparing. Diffuse the pressure on the team. Ex-sportsmen like Kirmani, will get their chance to speak after we win or lose. Why criticize the team members now? Who cares what they are playing for. Pee in the cup after you win it for all I care. Just focus on winning.
What Syed Kirmani is very correct. The player who has not played many and many one-day international series for a very long time has suddently thinking to play a one-day series just because it is the WORLD CUP. His performance in the recently concluded South Africa One-day series was not so great. So, it is always better to focus on the game and not on the individual talents. See Australia. How they bounced back after their Ashes Loss to England. They literally swept the One-day Series and many big players were not there in that team. It is the team which really plays like a team, is going to win the cup.
