King is greatest..
by RKN on Dec 09, 2011 07:45 PM  | Hide replies

I like viru and his style of batting but all means no comparison to King Viv. I havent seen Bradman but Viv is different kind during his time, single handedly destroyed best of the attacks.

During King Viv times, Cricket pitches are not tailor-made for batsmen and not enough protective gear.

By saying that Viru's attitude is amazing and we all love that.

Sir Viv is the best. Definitely better than Sachin, Shewag or anyone. Bowlers scared to death seeing him in the pitch. He was a tiger. Never scared. First Innings or II innings or never played for records. Watch some fine innings in youtube.

and foolish after sehwag 200 runs.CHeck it in what situation he and tingu made 200.Richards only handely win world cup in 1979.ANy records found by tingu or sachin and sehwag that they single handedly win world cup.Even Sir ricky thomas ponting made 140 runs in 2003 world cup.But the bowlers and feilder are best in australian side that is why in centurian in presence of this selfish sehwag and sachin tingu team india humilited and insult in world cup made only 125 runs.Check in records.

Shewag VsViv
by Niharika Sharma on Dec 09, 2011 07:16 PM  | Hide replies

Viv was definitely a better oneday player than Shewag and almost similar level to Sachin.I have seen Viv playing for several years. It is one thing to play as a member of the world's best team aagainst any other team and dominate them and another to be part of a weaker team and play against atronger team and perform. Ponting was awesome when Aussies were great team but today he is struggling. Thats where Sachin is greater. As far as Viv, he is certainly nt a better player than Shewag in Test. Shewag too has played against Murali,Warney,Macgrath,Akram,Stein,Donald and many more and succeeded. If these bowlers were not better or equivalent to garner, marshal etc than they wouldnt have been some of the all time bests or got the highest wickets. Viv has a poorer test avg than Shewag and dont forget Shewag's 3 Tripple ton, almost 3 against Viv'd highest of 291 in test. And dont forget how was Viv against true spin? He was as bad as any subcontinent avg player is against pace. If cricket was all about playing fast bowling then we would never have spinners or swing bowlers play.

But Viv definitely apeared more royal while he was playing, had more cricketing shots bt lesser mad than Shewag who has a test opener has redefined cricket. He is certainly one of the all time best test openers and also largely responsible for the golden era in Indian cricket. Gavaskar was awesomely great, but so is Dravid or Laxman who have probably won more matches than him and played some of the test cricket's most epic innings. But Tendulkar is way above the all, let another player survive for 22 long years, play all kind of cricket and score runs against all sorts attack, all sorts teams, against different generations, in different wickets all over the world and yet score so many runs and centuries consistently that we at times get accustomed to his run making and forget that he has won so many matches for us. We take his greatness for granted. Only Don can be compared with him.

Please don't compare Sachin or Sehwag with Don. The quality of bowling has detiorated badly now. In fact Sachin in his younger days played quality bowling against the likes of Courtney Walsh, Marshall (In his later days), Grath, Gillespie, Akram & Donald. These were great bowlers. The new heap of bowlers is only good in his/her own country.Besides Don has won many matches for his country & score 29 centuries in around 50 & odd matches with an avg of 99.94. There is indeed no comparison to that era & indeed Don himself. Maybe as said Gavaskar was a much better batsman than veeru

Bradman played 10/52 test i.e almost 20% tests against the weakest teams of his time[India and SA] with an avg of 190.25

Tendulkar played 14/171 i.e 8% of his tests against the weakest two teams of his time[Bangladesh and zimbabwe] with an avg of 91.47

Every players loves to play against one quality attack,Bradman loved English attack be it at home or in England. He has played 37/52 tests i.e. 71% of his matches against a single familiar opponent. so if V Shewag had played 71% of all his 82 test against his most favourite attack i.e Pakistan[He has an avg of 91 against them], his career avg would have been 80.43.

Bradman's avg had fallen considerably againt quality West Indian attack[74.50] or in bodyline series[55].Bodyline searies indicates one aspect that had he played in today's time with so much techno;ogy around opposition team would have definitely found some chinks or area of discomfort for Bradman, which he mostly escaped in that era.

The point is simple in todays age and time if Bradman had played he would have an avg of around 70 certainly nt 99.94 which was a sheer accident of time.

Had tendulkar played in similar type i.e more matches against the weakest teams or more matches against his favourite attack or only in India and Australian wicket year after year, his avg will also be somewhere near 70.

Also when Tendulkar is playing as a member of one of the finest batting line up where Shewag/Laxman/Dravid is diverting the focus of oppositi

in the last few years, he is scoring runs just like bradman did. Where as tendulakr mostly carried the burden of a weak indian batting line up at least up to 2000 [11 yrs of his career] where opposition knwe one thing [Out tendulkar and india is gone] and so they did everything to get him out. Today getting tendulkar out is nt enough.Bradman mostly played in a team where he was nt the only match winner.

Sachin Tendulkar is the best batsman ever....!!!!

Bradman had an average of 99.96...but 75% (5200 out 6996) runs have come against only one opposition....England.

Bradman played in an era where pitches were not covered....but that was negated by the restriction that bowlers should not be bowling above the waist height of a batsman...!!!!

Bradman and Co did not have an helmet...but the bowlers were not allowed to bowl into their ribcage.....when they bowled into their ribcage...it turned out to be a "Body Line Serie"....Bradman averaged 56 in the bodyline series...It brings down to the conclusion that had bradman also played in the current era where the bowlers target the ribcage of the batsman, he would have also ended up his average in his 50's...!!!

Also dont forget today batsmen are disected like never before with the help of latest technology. Opposition team will rarely bowl at his scoring zone, making run is far more difficult now because of that and much better fielding[thanks 50-50 n 20-20].

Kapil's 175 is all time best
by Nandakumar R on Dec 09, 2011 06:08 PM  | Hide replies

Kapil's 175 not out against Zimbawve during 1983 world cup ( which we won eventually beating Formidable West Indies that time), is all time best because of the fact that we were tottering badly having lost most of the ( 6 wickets with in 100) and kapil with the help of Kirmani and then with madanlal made 175 hitting fours and sixes and that too was difficult bitch to bat on. So that is the innings i felt is great than shewag's, tendulkars, or for that matter the great Viv richards
