SACHIN POOR SHOW
by seemab qureshi on Aug 23, 2011 05:12 PM  | Hide replies

once again sachin has left india in the hand of defeat .there are numerous cases where sachin has scored runs for himself and got out when india team really needed him to either draw a mtch or win. scoring so many runs when team really dont need is not a sign of a bharat ratna player. he should learn from dravid

It is a request that do not become an organistation of only making money and paying money. Please do not select the unfit players and give them a salary. Players along with their salary should be paid an incentive on the basis of their performance in per match. Place of no player should be fixed on the basis of their past performance. If they are fit and if they perform than only they should be allowed to play.

Only marketing, no merit !!
by Tera Baap on Aug 23, 2011 05:10 PM

Where are those jockers who talked of retiring old players to give chance to young blood ?
Where is that trio of commentators : Gavaskar, Shastri & Bhogale ?
Where are those who explained that Suresh Raina is the best cricketer ?
Where are BCCI, selectors & Srikanth ?
Just to make money, all these crooks kept on providing Indians with non sense stuff in the name of cricket & marketed rubbish ignoring real merit. When quality & merit are forgotten, you get such results, nothing to wonder.
There is more money in IPL & ODIs, so why bother about Test matches !!!
Be sure, these crooks will again start selling all these rotten stuff again. The more you get fooled, the more they make money - each of the above idiots !!

Test cricket in India is history
by Narayanan Mahalingam on Aug 23, 2011 04:48 PM

People feared the state of indian cricket when the tri murtis retire. The health is pretty bad even when the tri murtis are around.
India can kiss of test cricket. Make IPL an all the round year affair like EPL.

BCCI should do something, like! pay more to test players. They should have a proper test team. A player who play both ODI and test. Must be rested before every 3 ODI. A test bowler og batsman who play both ODI and Test, should only play IPL home games. No problem losing a match, not this way, but spare us for the humilation and beijzzti. Cant argu with aussie and english man anymore.

Recall SA series
by Oomshik Tooshik on Aug 23, 2011 03:40 PM

Congratulations to Eng.

Earlier this, the world was treated to this ludicrous spectacle. An entire nation of blind fantards and Indian media went overboard for days celebrating yet another SRT super useless record.

It was stupefying, what were these clowns thinking? For chrissake Ind got walloped badly by SA, it was an awful humiliation. In that backdrop, to celebrate an individual record, that of a batsman that didn't even try to avoid an innings defeat?

Just shows what indian fantards value in the end. Indiv records. who cares if the team loses, and so badly. It was shameful as the world laughed at India.

Need the matchwinners, not record holders.

Dhoni's Captaincy
by Ananya Gupta on Aug 23, 2011 03:39 PM

Dhoni , Captain Cool ,the most successful Indian captain is getting lambasted for what he has been doing for so long. Dhoni has a laid back attitude and a no-tension approach to his game and his captaincy which had helped to sooth the nerves of the Indian team in crisis situations and critical moments in the past. His approach is markedly different from Ganguly who relied more on emotions and fire power to win and motivate the team to win. Ironically it is this cool approach which is now coming for critisism as Dhonis is found wanting when bowlers are bowling an erratic line or batsmen showing weak resolve. It can be said that life as a captain has come a full circle for Captain Dhoni.

Dhoni captaincy
by anand Swaminathan on Aug 23, 2011 03:39 PM

Dhoni's captaincy in the last two tests were very poor. In the last test, Cook scored 294 runs. He set a field for him Deep Square leg and Deep Midwicket. Cook was able to nudge the ball to the midwicket and take easy single. I think he scored atleast 50-60 runs in that radius with ease. COOK is like Rahul dravid he will always take minimum risk and score maximum runs.
Secondly our bowlers has not bowled short balls at all compared to England Bowlers. See Sreeshant when Bell was playing at 199, he bowled a delivery at his legs to score him 4 runs to reach 200 mark. This is were captain to play a pivotal role to come to him advice him to bowl a short ball which was lacking in this entire series.

BCCI should advice Dhoni either to resign captaincy job or leave wicketkeeping. Because of his laziness, he could not talk to his bowlers.

Spineless Dispay of Unprecedented Proportions
by Shaunak on Aug 23, 2011 03:35 PM  | Hide replies

The loss of last 7 wkts for 21 runs was symbolic of Indian show in the entire series. Reams will be written analyzing this abyssimal performance and surely, excuses will be offered - injuries, umpiring decisions, too much cricket, lack of preparation time and so on. But just consider the following facts and queries:
Why was RP chosen ahead of Munaf? How can your strike bowler get injured and out inside the first two hours of the series? Why was Sehwag playing when obviously he was still nursing his injury? Why were our seamers so totally ineffective when the English bowlers appeared lethal? And ditto for spinners? How can you drop so many easy catches at test level and expect to compete? How can running between of test side be so pathetic - taking one when two, sometimes three were available? How can a test side field so poorly - allowing English batsmen free runs? Why was Dhoni so keen to go on the defensive and spread the field on couple of occasion when India had England on the ropes (109/6 at Lords and 124/8 at Trent Bridge)and allow England to claw back? How can so many great batsmen perform so badly, so consistently and simultaneously? Why stick with Raina after so many failures when Virat and Rohit could have had a go? Surely they couldn’t have fared worse? Why our tailenders try and chuck their wicket at every ball? What was Duncan Fletcher doing? BCCI, the captain, the coach, the players owe some answers and soul searching here or risk loss of popular support.

1. RP Singh's selection was a huge blunder . The team was right in thinking that based on ability , RP's left arm swing was better than Munaf's half pace bowling but they didn't seem to realize that he was neither fit nor in form . 2. Zaheer or anybody for that matter can get injured at any time . A hamstring injury doesn't come with prolonged exertion , it comes from a sudden strain ; so Zaheer really should'nt be blamed . 3. Our seamers werent fit enough to bowl at the top of their ability . Both Ishant and Sreesanth were a few kmph slower than their usual speed . Praveen was in any case , never fast . Besides they obviously missed an attack leader in Zaheer .4. Bhajji needs to introspect and work out why he has become so defensive nowadays . Mishra was always too slow off the pitch to be effective in England .5. Both our poor catching and poor running can be explained by poor fitness except in Dravid's case . We just need to accept that he is aging and his reflexes aren't as good as his determination .6. Dhoni has always been defensive , even in the past few series where we won . But then so was Strauss for long periods . This seems to be some modern captaincy trait .7. We stuck with Raina because he was in good form leading up to the tour while Kohli had been a disappointment in the Windies . Rohit Sharma hasn't played tests before and obviously the Board didn't want to risk him in an important series .

Even with all these explanations , one thing is sure . The major part of blame must go to BCCI . For - 1. Wrong selection , 2. Poor monitoring of player fitness ,3. Poor planning of the tour , 4 . Not having a long term plan for player replacement
