The idea of a whitewash is not so dreadful. The idea of another surrender again, without any resistance is. In 2003-04, Australia won all 3 Test Matches against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka, but since all the Test Matches were well contested, there was no disgrace for Sri Lanka. Here, we are not just being eaten, we are being disgraced. Like Mark Steyn says: The objective in a war is not breaking the enemy's battletanks, but the enemy's will to fight. England have broken India's will to fight.

Yours is the best comment I have read here in a long time! Far removed from the shallow jingoism that is a staple on Rediff. Well said.
I too feel that we should have gone down fighting at least if not drawn the tests .... alas, this is not to be.
Folks let us not be so disgruntled even if it happens to be a 4-0 whitewash. Let us accept the fact that the end of Indian cricket has come. Normally the end is a slow process but thanks be to God it has come as a resounding wallop. Indians should forget test cricket for the time being as today even Zimbabwe will thrash us in their own backyard. Focus solely on IPL as this is the only hope. You don't need technique, concentration or commitment to the nation for IPL. All you need to be committed first of all to your team owners like SRK, Ambani, Mallaya etc as they provide the big bucks. Hang around with a few dimwit Bollywood stars & think you rule the country. Our fans with pickle brains will support you as they want a sexed up cricket match which is like a movie ending in about 3.5 hrs. This is the true state of Indian cricket. Let it die & be roasted.

i think this is the beginning of the end of indian cricket like westwindies.
Finally, everybody seem to understand the truth for our miserable defeat in England (that we did not do better in West Indies is another matter). Complacency and lack of application. The Indians appears to have lost all interest in the game and are playing like school kids. The so-called veterans and stalwarts are no better when it comes to testing on foreign soil. Personal milestones alone does not bring victories to the country. Shame on the Indian team.
A new dimension possibly fixed in the loss may be BCCI wants to show the loss of revenue/income from the defeat to England due to high success of WC and IPL earnings to balance their accounts and avoid IT etc.,

IT IS POSSIBLE, BECAUSE CRICKETERS ARE NOT PLAYING CRICKET IT IS PLAYED BY BCCI AS PER THEIR ACCOUNTABILITY

We have to give it to Japanese for all the inventions. They are the masters. English are the rulers, organizers, administrators. Chinese are simply copycats, they manufacture or fake everything already created. Americans package, sell, market. Indians are presently consumers of all garbage thrown from around the world. And they are indeed NOISY.
The English Test was a all paid holdiay for the Team. At BCCI's expenses they have gone to England to have fun & frolick. At least they have acheived that goal of theirs even if they have conceded to the Test. Cheers (sic)
