CANNOT put down Engish batting without doing much MORE than England bowlling. Because, English batting is at par with English bowling due to practice on the net and in counties.
Pragyan could have helped india way. What else? Need not be frustrated because Angrez are used to the pace and swing. NEED SOMETHING unusual that indian bowling is unable to deliver.
Indian Batting if it made bigger scores could have infused more confidence in Indian bowling.

Re: useless Indian team..

I agree. These tests will show them and others their true colors. Atleast they come back and brood (introspect) for couple of months. And we are spared of watching too much of them on TV ads!

Law of Large numbers and Bollywood take over of cricket
by Vaidhy Narayanan on Aug 12, 2011 05:37 AM

Yet another thrashing most likely an innings defeat for India. Perhaps Darren Gough was right in predicting that this english team will beat india every day of the week.
Man to man India is nowhere compared to this england team. We are weak, less skillful and very underprepared.
England deserve to win 4-0. However the craze of cricket and support in India won't come down for sure, its the law of large numbers and with the population of close to 2 Billion i doubt if everyone suddenly gets similar mindset.
Also remember bollywood has already taken over cricket, bad series and loss is like a bad movie (any Sharukh khan or salman stuff :-)
Good movies will be repeated for general public (read old winning games). Its all business, the next India england series is 5 matches (i dont expect 5-0 that time though!)

Can India survive Day 4?
by Arv Singh on Aug 12, 2011 04:14 AM  | Hide replies

This test match is heading the same way as two earlier matches. The famous Indian batting line-up has not been able to score 300 in five innings so far. Indian bolwing looks like Bangladesh without Zaheer and Harbhajan. Don't expect them to bowl England out till the end of the third day. By that time England may take a lead of 350 runs. The match could finish as early as the fourth day. It's a disaster ... indicates lack of preparation, planning, physical conditioning, and poor leadership by Dhoni. Him mocking a senior player and his dead father was very cheap attempt at humour. Do you still find that ad funny?

Can we expect any better in ODI series?

It all depends on how long Dravid tough it out there. And hopefully Gambhir and VVS stay out there with him. If that happens, we may be able to draw this test.

Besides these three, I doubted anyone else can play for too long on 4th and 5th day pitch and under so much pressure of saving the test..

@indian ; even if dravid, lax and gambhir play the lead will be too much for india to draw the match.. eng will try and bat it out all day today.. take a lead of 400 runs (it looks likely)..and then have a crack at the indians for 2 days....that's a lot of time to get the indians out....surely an innings defeat is on the cards....

Tendulekar
by Prabodh Jain on Aug 12, 2011 03:59 AM  | Hide replies

Is he really a team man?

- Only can bat at #4 in Test cricket

- Only can bat as opener in ODI cricket, but can't open in test even once ina while when team really has no opener left.

- Don't want to bowl anymore in test cricket, eventhough all other bowlers are completely exosted..

What's good praising such self centered player and award him India's highest honor.. Such player shouldn't be even in the national team..

Well, when we are destined to watch the likes of Badrinath, Pujara, Rohit sharma, Mukund in the not too distant future, we will realize what we have been priveleged to watch for the past 20 odd years.

I agree with you. With the likes Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman, Zaheer, and Harbhajan around, we got used to the winning way. The team would look different with the younger players. There is some talent there but not the same class as the seniors. By the way, I don't think we would see more of Abhinav Mukund anymore.

Very true about Mukund. He looked like a deer caught in the headlights.
But who knows ? Its all ones time.

With younger players, we would struggle for a few years. Would be lucky to be around number 4 position.

Harbhajan sucks and lived on his past reputation for last many years. Time to say goodbye to him for good and start grooming other spinners.

I agree but the point I am trying to make is that Sachin hasn't been the same player in Test cricket for last couple years.

How often you get assurance that Sachin will stay out on the pitch for long and battle it out? While player like Dravid or VVS to some extent, you do feel that they will hang in there and play for a while..

Sachin is playing for 20 yrs and has played in England many times. What say about him gettin out yesterday? Don't they say when ball is swining, you don't drive, especially away from your body.. What did he do?

When going gets tough tough gets going but Sachin doesn't get going..

ok. tell me when did he open in Test last? Has he been bowling in Test cricket anymore? When Gambhir went down, why Sachin didn't open? Isn't he used to open in ODI and knows that position and how to face new ball first up?

He himself has said he prefer to open in ODI when Chappel asked to play in middle order in ODIs. He said last year that he doesn't fency bowling anymore.

Get the crap out and get your facts straight before opening your mouth..

But to the best of my knowledge, Sachin gave up captaincy some time back... didn't he? :)

When you learn a bit about cricket, you'll definitely get a lot of clues on how Captain decides the batting order and who to give the ball to...

Till then you are welcome to remain "clueless"... ;-)

Psycho,

Do you really think Captain tells Sachin what order to bat on? Or even anyone in BCCI or the coach can tell Sachin?

Are you really following cricket? Better learn a bit about cricket before telling others.

Chapell asked sachin to come down the order in ODIs and it became national issue because Sachin wasn't happy about it..

India never became No 1

Basically, India never became No 1. Instead WI, Aus, and SA became number 8, 5, 2 respectively.
