Except for India, Aus & Eng, none of the other boards pay their players well.

It depends what is considered as paying well. You cannot beat IPL money with test cricket money in any country.
Malinga retirement was expected, the way deadlock was going on between India and Srilanka Cricket Board, it was to come any moment. It's sad for the cricket. Current criketers are more interested in shorter version then test cricket. Hopefully, Indian cricketers will not do this nonsense.
the players want to come back from retirement and some want to retire from Test or ODIs to prolong their career (read in IPL) and some don't want to play for their country. What a shame? All selfish players exposed in this IPL tamasha.

Malinga's body cant take it man. Bowling at that pace with an awkward action will kill you. Look at Tait - he is too young for retiring

Actually cricket boards other than India, Aus & Eng do not pay well to their players. If they start paying them well, none of the cricketers will give importance to IPL over their country.
You dont understand. Lankan board was recalling him for the test series. He wanted to play IPL for obvious $$$ reasons. So he has decided to announce immediate retirement !!
Better for him is to retire from all forms of cricket and start throwing javeline. He can win gold for Srilanka in the next olympics..And there he need not run/field/bowl at all and that helps his degenerating knees also..
