India's future is brighter than before
by Nikhil Shah on Apr 17, 2011 10:09 AM

If the selectors do the job properly the future of Indian cricket is brigther than ever, without Sachin, Dravid, Laxman and Zaheer and Nehra in ODIs.

In Test matches, Rahane averages 67 in First class matches, along with Tiwari, Sharma and Pujara who are brilliant fielders. The introduction of youngsters provides better fielding sides. This 2011 WC has been revived because of India's fielding.

In the spin bowling for Tests, there is Mohish Parmar, Abdulla Murtaza and Iqbal who are competent spinners for Tests in the future.

For ODIs, Unankant, should replace Nehra. Umesh Yadav is consistently above 140kph and should be good addition to Tests outside India.

Munaf may takeover from Zaheer for the next 4 years, with Sreesanth and Ishant outside India and supported by Umesh Yadav in the long term.

The most difficult position is Nehra and Zaheer who are pacy compared to Unankant. We may see Kamran Khan a good prospect emerging from the IPLs.

Overall it is upto the Selectors to pick the right talent and the 2015 WC is 4 years away.

The more immediate hole created by Zaheer can be filled by Munaf and Praveen should be back soon in ODIs. In addition, with Ashwin in place of Harbhajan in one dayers, India has Kohli, Raina, Yuvraj and Ashwin as brilliant fielders in the circle.

Harbhajan has been overloaded with bowling 40 overs per innings and is no longer the same bowler he was. With Ashwin who can be a specialist in ODIs and
Yuvraj as a spinner in Tests as well.
