ask sachin to open a cricket acadamy
by provu rai on Apr 07, 2011 03:37 PM

ask sachin to open a cricket acadamy in rural india and coach cricket loving poor rural young people of his carrier.
this short of contribution may make him eligible for getting nominated for bharat Ratna.
Other wise to day he is playing for money only.Other wise he has not contributed to nation in any way.
instead he always cries to pay income tax.

no doubt sachin is a great sports man. But BHARAT RATHNA is still greatest award than others. We should not take immediate decisions in this regard.
Cricket has become commercial game now. Lot of cricketers are criticized due to max fixing. Once we start giving Bharat Rathna title to cricketers, we can not stop it. Sarad Pawar is a biggest culprit in Cricket as well as in politics. We can not control him.
I feel we can immediately honor our Ex. Prez. Dr. Kalam with Bharat Rathna.
I am sorry Schin, I am not against you. Pls. under stand my feelings.

Bharath Ratna for Sachin...What for???
by a g on Apr 07, 2011 03:36 PM  | Hide replies

It's pretty amusing to see people especially eminent sportsmen recommending Sachin for Bharath Ratna. The question is WHAT FOR??? Bharath Ratna by definition is the highest civilian honour, given for exceptional service towards advancement of Art, Literature and Science, and in recognition of Public Service of the highest order. Does this guy fit this definition? Even if you include sports to this category he still doesn't fit the bill as he has amassed records only in his own interest and was seldom a match winner. While this guy can be called a good batsman, he doesn't deserve 'the greatest cricketer' tag hanging on him. In a way, he has had negative contribution to cricket by
a) extending his tenure in the Indian team
a) not giving youngsters their legitimate chance
b) coming in the openers slot and depriving other players of facing max. overs.
c) amassing records and endorsements and always going tax free. Not sure if he ever paid any tax!!!

Now, does he really deserve a Bharath Ratna?

Unfortunately, you dont consider the Cricket as art. And as far as Public Service is concerned, he has done much more than any other politicians who are awarded the Bharat Ratna. Any game is an art and the advancement of art is definitely a criteria.

Can you please explain what Rajiv Gandhi or Indira Gandi did good for Indian Citizens to award a Bharat Ratna?

Hope this helps you to clear some cloud around you.

You mean cricketers are artistes? Really an eye opener!!! Even for argument sake if you consider cricket as an art, what is Sachin's contribution to it? Has he been instrumental in the growth of cricket in India? Has he brought more glories to India by winning matches? What has he done??? Rajiv and Indira Gandhi also don't deserve. It's only congress who gave them the award. Outside India they won't even get a respect of tourists!!! The cloud is in your mind, in your thoughts. These cricketers don't deserve iconic status at all. Enough of patronizing them. Patronize other games n sports. Atleast that will fetch us some medals in Olympics!!!

"Even if you include sports to this category he still doesn't fit the bill as he has amassed records only in his own interest and was seldom a match winner"

Then why exactly he has the second best average after Navjot Singh Siddhu in Indian Test match VICTORIES (match winning average) among all Indian batsmen in history? Why exactly does he hold the world record of maximum MOM awards (60 ) and MOS awards (14 odd) in ODI cricket? Care to explain?

Sachin is a good performer of the sport “Cricket”, with his talented batting from the young age he has attracted almost all the Indian Fans as well as fans from abroad irrespective of the nationality. Certainly a reward, more than “Bharath Rathna” which no Indian player deserve that much.
His records in Number of
(a)      World Cup Played
(b)      No. of ODI / Test played
(c)      No. of Centurys
(d)      No. of Fiftys
(e)      Total Runs in ODI, Test Cricket & 20 / 20 etc.,
All these achievements were the credential to his long standing spot in the field of Indian Cricket. Let’s make a question of it,
Is his recent personal achievements get transformed to Team success ?
Not
Then Y he is still in the team ?
That is for the Sponsors credit to utilize his attained familiarity to a healthy monetary for BCCI and Sponsors. This is proven by his recent statement to still continue in the ODI’s.
This is the right time for Sachin to decently keep off from International Cricket and involve himself in organizing Cricket Academy to train the needy poor players to come up to Internation Cricket squard. This will help in sprouting many more Sachin’s for the Team INDIA. Thus the name SACHIN will be in the history of Cricket forever.
Positively hoping that Sachin should leave Indian team with the Prestige what he has at present and should not gave way for others to keep him off fro

Let's see -

1. Test series victories against all Test playing nations.

2. 4 Test series victories against the most dominant side of his time, Australia.

3. Helped his team reach the #1 spot in ICC Test rankings and reign there for more than a year.

4. ODI series victories against all proper Test playing nations.

5. A World Cup victory.

SHOULD SACHIN BE AWARDED BHARAT RATNA
by biswajit das on Apr 07, 2011 03:35 PM

I think Sachin should not be awarded Bharat Ratna. Although he has made our country proud but it is not much of value; Vishwanathan Anand, Geet Sethi have also made our country proud.
