Many people who did exceedingly well did not get bharat ratna. If sachin should get it then why not dhyanchand ? Why not Vishwanathan anand and leander paes ? Lata Mangeshkar gets it but mohammad rafi does not, and most popular singer kishore kumar does not get even a padmashree. There is no real measure for giving bharat ratna. Rajiv gandhi became PM on sympathy votes and not by his work, he died in a terrorist attack and did not sacrifice his life voluntorily like kargin martyrs, and he gets bharat ratna.

Player with social service

Bharat Ratna award should be given to those who serves for the society. Whatever achievement he has done, it is his personal achievement and he was suitably rewarded for his contribution to Indian cricket.

why????
by Rohit ezhuthachan on Apr 07, 2011 03:38 PM

Just because he excelled in cricket makes him fit for Ratna.. He deserves Khel Ratna or some other where he has excelled in sports. What has he done to humanity. Made Indians proud OK. What he has done to poor human beings of India?? Sirji.. ask this question to yourself. Clamour for Ratna is too loud.. Does he deserve it.

ricket is not life.. it is an obsession to third world countries like Sri Lanka, pakistan, Bangladesh, India. Westerners it is just another sport. Gentleman's sport. When third world started participating, betting etc., started.
A selfless gentleman like Sachin sir, should be given Khel ratna award.

SHOULD SACHIN BE AWARDED BHARAT RATNA
by biswajit das on Apr 07, 2011 03:38 PM  | Hide replies

I don't think Sachin should be awarded Bharat Ratna. Although he has made our country proud but Vishwanathan Anand, Geet Sethi and others have also done so.

Vishwanathan anand or Geet Sethi are greats on their respective sports..
But Sachin's contribution is much much more.

Hey you guys what is the matter with you, why have you ignored the many people serving our armed forces where they are willing to lay down their lives most willingly so that you may sleep peacefully day in and day out...can either of you volunteer to go to the front to lay down your lives for others...I guess not, so grow up. By playing the sport you have already earned so much fame and money, this the sport has given you for your service even when you have not performed...Give the BHARAT RATNA to one of those army people who don't get fame or fortune for what they do. some end up without their limbs for life and what not. Come on guys, the real performers are our Defence personnel. I salute them...do you?
