Sachin Tendulkar Out For A Zero in Mohali's Indo-Pak Semi-Final
by Amar Singh on Apr 04, 2011 01:16 AM

India will not be playing in the finals of the World Cup at Wankhede Stadium on Saturday. Two of India's neighbours and arch rivals will be battling it out for the honours of being the World ODIChampions.

Finally CONTINUATION
by Basant Bharati on Apr 03, 2011 08:16 PM  | Hide replies

It was very risky for the team as well as his own career as a captain. Good for both, he could lead from the front and reached the goal and set an example for leadership. For the first time he broke the jinx that he is a lucky captain encashing the contributions by other team members. It was a well fought and great win by incredible India.

It is observed that Sachin planned by design to linger on till 2011 CWC by sidetracking his cotemporaries like Dravid, Laxman and Ganguly, by resting himself off and on at will. They are equally good for this 50 overs format and would have played same as or better than what Sachin did in CWC 2011. He has still to complete some personal milestones. Hope he will retire at least now making way to so many youngsters in waiting. We don’t mind calling him better than Bradman! He can by all means go on in IPL series to represent Mumbai.

By announcing a cash prize to the Coach not equal to the players, BCCI has showed its mediocrity. Politicians do not grow. All the best to the royal game of cricket. Hope other games like Hockey and Football in India get similar hype and wealth, in spite of the politicians.

Did anyone stop Dravid, Ganguly and Laxman not to rest themselves to prolong their careers?

Very well said... Even Ravindra Jadeja is an excellent Un-selfish player, as is Kamran Akmal.... They always ensure that the opponents are given enough chances... :)

I dont know to which type of company you belong. But did u see the difference in other companies where all support staff also got the same level of allowances? I am not supporting BCCI but it is not just in cricket but everywhere there is a pattern of paying less to support staff. the logic might be because ultimately who are in the battle face more pressure and responsiblity.

Finally India won the CWC
India started as favourites for CWC 2011 on the wishful thinking fans and not on the basis of the composition of the team, the fifteen chosen players, their current forms etc. The ability of both batting and bowling departments was very sketchy. No choice of options was available. Bowling department and Dhoni’s captaincy were in much to be desired level through the tournament. India peaked only during the QFs and SF, by beating Australia and Pakistan. In spite of these convincing victories in the kitty, beating Sri Lanka was a big task, unbelievably till it happened. Because Sri Lankan team was very strong in all the departments, had lot of options and had done very well on the way upwards.

Similarly the hype built for this CWC around Sachin Tendulkar was just a marketing gimmick by his sponsors and nothing else. And it proved to be so at the end with some of his good contributions adding to his own kitty of glory and not that of India. The combined performance of the team wins a game always. Some may excel in performance. Even in 1983 CWC win, each player was one among equals.

Chasing 275 was a formidable task. Sehwag went early and Sachin did a Yuvi in Mohali. Fortunately Gouthi and Virat rose to the occasion. But the turning point was the gut feel decision taken by Dhoni to promote himself in the batting order ahead of Yuvi.

Yes sir, Sachin added to his own kitty..Century against England ensured that we have atleast a draw. Minus his runs, we were not even talking about finals as of now as India would have been out in the opening stages itself. Dont want to mention the South Africa inning as others just disgraced themselves. In quaterfinal his resolute opening 50 made the way for others, had he been gone early, we were out in Quaterfinals itself. In Semifinal he socred the hightest 80 enable india reach defending total. Dont tell me that Pakistan threw the match, as this talks are bullshit in the end, you need scores to defend. And finally in the final though he couldnt make significant contribution, it was right that others had to show respect for this persons undieing contribution towards the nation and the team. By playing the final game as champions, they had redeemed themselves. So You please FFFFFFFFFF......K off.

If India becomes a developed country, then quickfire short duration games like Soccer, Hockey, basketball will succeed.

Then Cricket, currently a whole day/5 day time pass entertainment, will have to come out with a 10-10 cricket to finish in 90-100 minutes to survive.

Or shorter version of T20 played in 3 innings T15 with each inning for 5 over. Each team bat for 5 over and so on so it matches the excitements of basketball or baseball.
