Half baked Yankee comments
by Unmai Vilambi on Apr 01, 2011 10:23 PM  | Hide replies

What a frog in the well, this ABCD author is ?! He can't describe any aspect of the Tendulkar phenomenon without comparing it to America. Who the heck is Babe Ruth? And Sachin is as famous as that unknown? Let him go back and tell the Americans that Micheal Jordan is as skilled as Sachin Tendulkar.

And how in the world does this moron compare an India-Pakistan match-up to Yankees-Red Sox rivalry ? I have lived in the US for several years, but have never known people outside the east coast area who bothered about a Yankees-Red Sox match. Baseball is a game played only by a few teams in US. And they should stop calling it 'world series'.

Americans in general, and these ABCDs in particular should learn to see the world in real terms. And come to an understanding that happenings outside US can be much larger than their own nut-shell sized world.

Mr.Badshah, I give him that much credit. For taking efforts to appreciate a great Indian phenomenon by using anologies. But those anologies should be universally apt. I wouldn't have called him 'a frog in the well' if he had compared Sachin's fame to...say a David Beckham, or a Micheal Schumacher. But, Babe Ruth?! I know who Babe is. But saying Sachin is 'as famous as' Babe Ruth. Come on. Not even 100 million people in a country of 300 million know Babe Ruth. But nearly 2 Billion people in 14 cricket playing nations know Sachin Tendulkar. Now, think about the 'as famous as' comparison.

you are assuming that the criteria is "number" in as famous as. Do you think when someone says you are one in a million they actually count and tell. should they say 1 in two thousand five hundred and twenty seven then you will be happier.
If you read it carefully then you will see he says To summarise a recent report, this means this is not his personal opinion. he never claimed he knows about india or cricket that much anyways.
So think before you write criticism. Or you are just j because you think you are greatest indian living in america and someone else was picked to write an article in rediff it is your insult.

Ok, here comes Joh Shah's attorney. Dude, you are anything but cool. Tell your client, to publish this article in American forums, so that Americans can know about the greatness of Sachin Tendulkar, by comparing him to their own greats. This is an Indian forum, and we already know how great he is. We don't care if it is his own opinion or if he is citing any American report. You, and your numbers logic...ha ha.

it seems my comments were too hot for you. Anyways reading what you have said on this forum so far, it seems either you are a frustrated pakistani who lost his wife to neighborhood butcher in a bet in the semifinal. Or you are an ungrateful indian who is probably an ice cream vendor in a slum and disappointed with your acheivements in life, for which your own worthless is to blame. that will also explain your pitiful and laughable use of english.
in either case, you think you are very important and when you say ha ha to something it actually matters. well i have news for you, it does not. it irked you to your guts since you could not respond to any of the things i said before. well i will tell you the right use of ha ha, strip down and look in the mirror, ha ha will come out automatically.

It is called world series because for narrow minded, selfish "Americans", continental USA is their only world. Even former VP candidate Sarah Palin didn't knew that Africa was a continent and not a single country.

You said that "he is a frog in the well", and proved that similarly, "you are a frog in your well" by saying who the heck is Babe Ruth. Babe Ruth may not be as popular as Tendulkar, but he is popular to the followers of his sport. Similarly Tendulkar is a virtual unknown in the US outside of the India,Pak, and other cricket following diaspora.

While I agree with most of your other comments...including that this Yankees-Red Sox rivarly is overhyped and even here in the US not much significance is given to it. It certainly can not be compared to the INdia Pakistan rivarly in cricket.

Your statement about America calling everything sporting event a 'World series' is true, and a joke. Every thing is a world cup or a world series here in the US, even though only teams from the US participate.

I have teased and asked so many American friends about the logic behind it, and many of them havent even thought about it. However when I pose the question, they actually dont get it, that it should ideally be called the US championship or Nationals or some such, or by the name of the cup or trophy itself.

I guess by calling it world championship, no matter who wins, Americans can call themselves 'World champions'. Also, the rest of the world is largely non existent in the minds of most Americans. The worldview of most Americans is limited to Canada in the north, Mexico in the South, thats it. And of course England somewhere

So, you agree with all my views, but you are a one upman, all knowing Alagappan, because you know who Babe Ruth is ? Just check how many of your Indian friends how abot Babe Ruth.

Grow up, Setu, and try to understand the jist of the message. And you don't have to give a commentary for all my points. People can very well understand what is posted.

"but you are a one upman, all knowing Alagappan, because you know who Babe Ruth is ? Just check how many of your Indian friends how abot Babe Ruth."

Just ask Americans if they have heard of Sachin Tendulkar. 99.99% would have no clue about that name.

And that is the point. Babe Ruth is popular in his well. Sachin is popular in his well. so stop playing this 'my d_ick is bigger than your d_ick' game. That stops looking cute after boys move on past grade III in school.

I will write what I want to convey. If you dont like it, move on to the next comment. No one is forcing you to read.

Jesus Christ !!! Ok, now someone will have to tutor you on where to write what? Why would I go an ask Americans about Sachin? If you still haven't gotten the message, Setu, let me make it clear. One should know what comparisons to use depending on the forum. Please read my reply to Pyare Mohan below.

:-). The parody is brilliant.

Even I know who Babe Ruth is. But, when writing in an Indian Forum, you've got to use names that readers are familiar with. We Indians may not be well educated, but we keep ourselves well abreast of world affairs. So, not necessarily another Indian name, but any world famous (I mean real world, not the American 'world') name to compare would do.

NEHRA IS OUT- IF MUNAF IS OUT-INDIA WILL WIN DEFINITELY:
by Srinivasan Renganathan on Apr 01, 2011 09:45 PM  | Hide replies

The best team for the game against Sri Lanka is
1. Sewhag.
2. Tendulkar.
3. Virat Kolhi or Gambhir.
4. Raina.
5. Yuvraj Singh.
6. Yusuf Pathan.
7. Dhoni.
8. Ashwin.
9. Zaheer.
10. Harbhajhan.
11. Sreesanth.

• Munaf & Nehra did not bow exceptionally well yesterday as many people think. It was due to the Pitch conditions, Semi-Final pressure and most importantly the weak batting order of the Pakistan team that led to their downfall.

It’s great news that Nehra is already out of the world cup due to injury. Surely, Ashwin will replace him inspite of Dhoni’s antics.

• Gambhir/Kolhi should be replaced with Pathan, & Munaf should be replaced with Sreesanth. With this combination, we can comfortable beat Srilanka. With the same combination, India would have won against Pakistan with a margin of more than 50 runs.

• Since, Srilanka having a better batting lineup than Pakistan & also their batting order extends upto N0-7 in Mathews; it would be foolish if Dhoni plays with the same team that played against Pakistan.
Let’s hope that Dhoni selects the best team.

If Sri Lankans foolishly play an injured Murali instead of Randhiv (Who is a quality bowler) & oldie Chaminda Vaas instead of Mathews/Dilhara Fernando, India can beat Sri Lanka comfortably.

You uneducated cricket buff, Why the hell do you require Pathan? Do we need a hero in 1 match and zero in 9 match or do we require a man with steady force?
Don't give your foolish ideas in the forum.
All bowlers require pitch assistance no one is excluded except guys like warne, mcgrath,Akram,Kapil,Binny, B.S chandra etc

This apathy and unconcern for our future and destiny is sad, isnt it. That's why we are what we are and why were ruled for centuries by the British. See how the Libyans and the Egyptians are willing to die for what they want. We want the good life without the discomfort.

A Colonel going through the Punjab in the 1700s commented apparently that people just gaped at them as they marched through the streets and could have killed the soldiers with stones if they had only wanted to but did not.
