Last hope vanished
by Rajan S on Sep 30, 2010 12:50 AM

When i saw the news about bcci's election, i began to read the report anxiously in the hope that there would be elections for the post of chairman of selectors. Because I relaize that, without removing him and that too atleast 6 months before the start of 2011 WC, India will not go pass even the first round.Removing him alone won't solve the problems, but i consider that as a major step in India's revival in cricket

WHAT NONSENSE
by Milind on Sep 30, 2010 12:50 AM  | Hide replies

BCCI mints crores and crores from the crop of cricket and the professional 'cricketers' are asked not to charge for their expertise then who eats all that? pawar or manohar?

Why would Gavaskar or any other work for free? he spent all his life understanding the game, and now he is parting the knowledge so he must get "Paid" for that. These guys are paying heavy to chappal, gary and what not then why cant pay same to Gavaskar

Srikanth's selection panel shuld be dismissed as soon as possibl
by Rajan S on Sep 30, 2010 12:49 AM  | Hide replies

Srikant has made IPL performances the base for selection in to the national team. That is unacceptable. Firstly we cant judge a player's ability to play in longer versions of cricket from the T20 cricket in IPL. And Secondly, then why this ranji, duleep, irani trophy etc being played in our country. Isn't there any value for those players who have been sweating it out in our first class cricket?
If Mr Srikanth is not removed from the post of chairman of selectors atleast now, with still six months to go for the WC, then expect another first round exit in the 2011 WC

LAST BUT NOT LEAST QUESTION....
by usaindian on Sep 30, 2010 12:41 AM  | Hide replies

Question 7:
Some writers have pointed out Baloo inspired Ambedkar, something that Ambedkar has acknowledged. Can there
be more Ambedkars if there are more Baloos?

I will like to put a disclaimer here that my intentions are neither to engage the fanatic cricket fans
in a brainless debate nor to point a finger to the worthiness of any of the big cricketers I have named.
Rather, with this article, I just want to dig into the truth and find out if India is really free of caste bias.
If yes, then why is it that the eleven-member team of our most popular sport is not big enough to
fit in a Dalit member? Or, does the problem lie somewhere else?

I hope the answers will come from the reader in the form of comments to this article or as fresh articles.

a national team is not supposed to be free charity that u 'Fit in" a Dalit or a brahman or a vaishya or a tribal or anything, u represent India as ateam so dont ask for reservation here and ur name usaindian cannot mislead as someone living in US cannot have ur mindset

U so dumb..Go find out Ind has produced many good players who ahppened to be Dalit...I dont want to mention their names..Becoz i dont give sh*it about what caste they were/ are..They always were Good Indian cricket players and thats all matter to me ...If u so concerned about perticular caste or group of people, go do something positive for them rather than typing stupid comments about it

Your baseless assumptions not going to give you any answer. Many players have not shown the character when the opportunity come and knock their doors. Don't look at the success players history, just look at the opposite side. many players just lost their life because of cricket. Instead of having recommendation, you need to have sharp and focus in your cricket. Just take an example of Yuvaraj Singh, he was a promising player, what happened now. Many opportunities given to him, but he could't play well even a single match against sri lanka. Every where politics is thr. But it is just for an entry, if you have talent you can survive thr, else you are out.

honest competants out of place among crooks
by viswanatha seshadri on Sep 30, 2010 12:26 AM

gavaskar's displacement, dalmia replacement indicate bcci as a den of crooks. lalit modi did a honest job on ipl, otherwise the dhoni team winning ipl3 would not have won champions' league also, making india proud. but the crooker owner of chennai team ungratefully goes after modi, probably bec he was not allowed to rake in undue profits. Lord srinivasa will soon put man srinivasan in his due place. but, cricket in india and pak will no longer deserve or command muchb respect, nationally and internationally.
