Hope All goes Well
by Lalith E on Sep 21, 2010 12:05 AM

It is a good selection though i may feel Yuvraj should have got one more chance, there is no doubt he is the best batsmen in ODI we have after Sachin right now and with Raina catchin up with him in Test Squad , we might have seen Yuvraj at his best, he is definetely capable of.. But saying that he might have got his share of chances to prove, had he succeeded in this series it would be confidence booster for him , as of now he is the trump card for INDIA's success in World Cup 2011 without any doubt. Hope Yuvi gets into grove in ODI series, In Test matches though i see him settleing down as and when one of sachin dravid and laxman retires

i wish all success to pujara, hope he gets a chance to play & prove himself.it has happened on many an occasion that a player is selected in the 15 member squad, does not get a chance to play even one match, & finds himself out of the squad for the next series.it is not understood, why the maverick sreesanth has been selected, praveen kumar is much better than him in all versions of the game.

Yuvraj is better than Vijay
by sreenivasulu reddy on Sep 20, 2010 10:18 PM  | Hide replies

I believe selectors did a better job in selecting Pujara. But no one understands why Vijay is keep on getting the opportunities. Everyone knows how scared Vijay is while facing quality bowlers. Even his performances and avearages will tell this story. Srikanth needs to stop selecting the Tamil Nadu players just like that.
It is better to replace Vijay by one of Rahane or Rayudu or M Pandey.

Maino - Badri should have gotten a chance in place of Vijay or karthik. Blame Srikanth for this mess. He keep on selecting on Vijay or Karthik or Ashwin and shutting the doors on Badri. Don;t know if Badri is not a Tamil Brahmin

Vijay’s record till now…

      Mat      Inns    &nbs p; Runs      HS      Ave       100      50      4s
Tests      7       10      333      87 &nbs p;    33.30      0      2   &n bsp;  39
First-class      38      61  &nbs p;   3033      243      51.40   &nb sp;  7      14      357

Don’t you feel that it is too early to judge a player who as performed consistently well in domestic cricket. Please remember Vijay is not scared to face QUALITY pace attack. The highest score (87* on Debut) was against Australia which is the best bowling side in the world.

Dilip - There are players who are far better than Vijay. They can be given the chance first. Other information is Vijay scored heavily against wekaer Ranji teams and that's why you can see high averages for him.

U need to get the facts straight bfore commenting this. If u feel vijay scored against weak ranji teams, so are the other players who u want to be selected.
Rayudu is IPl wonder he needs to prove more in Ranji to be selected he was in ICL for 2 seasons and this is his first season in FC and u r whining that he is not selected.
Rahane - accept he is good at FC level, but he needs to consistent at the A tours just like Pujara. Just one season cant get u a place in Test.
Pandey - come on this guy is puerly a one IPL season wonder. The only matches he played somewhat better was the semi finals and finals of IPl 2009. His Fc record last season and thiss eason tells the story.
So better have the facts ready bfore u comment in a public forum

Dont blame the average indian viewer -who are at best a deck chair supporter having never played any sport in his whole life. But blame the individual boards for their failure to cash in on the recent success story. Indian cricket gave their board a boost by winning the World cup in 83,after which the board has never looked back but has constantly innovated & reinvented itself to cash in on the public sentiment & interests. But other boards has failed miserably and are specialist in passing the blame on the goverment. That the Indian viewer watches other sport was proved by the success of the football world cup-but the lack adequate interest built up makes them avoid the domestic football games. It is really a great effort by BCCI who had left everybody far behind.

such a relief not to see Dinesh Katrhik, Badrinath and also yuvraj in the Test team....

guys, murli vijay, is the back up opener..unless there are injuries he isn't going to make it in the 11...so chill
moreover we dont have a decent batsman who can't open at this stage anyways...so lets live with murli vijay (as a back up opener) for a while.

some people want uttapa in Test cricket..lol.
This is test cricket.
His main asset is big hitting, slogging...etc, First let him make come backs in indian T-20, ODI teams...

sameer, i dont understand where you got those 70 plus average figures for the two batsmen that you mention. did they bat for only 2-3 matches in ranji and that is why got that kind of average. why do you want to base your conclusions on one or two isolated matches? if you consider their overall first class record they were not 70 plus average batsmen. at least sadagoppan ramesh was not that bad in tests. if you compare his stats with sehwag and gambhir of course he will be found wanting. but he was not all that bad really.

please recheck what their domestic records are. please check your reseach before you post otherwise you will have to get embarrassed. perhaps they had 70 plus average in domestic cricket in your dreams??!!

and any way just because a few of indian batsmen who had good records at domestic level failed at international level is no reason to knock everybody's domestic record. mark my words, people like raina, murali, badri, kohli etc. are going to be our batting mainstay in the future. i have mentioned only those names which have played international cricket so far. there are a few other promising players also who have yet to play at international level but they are too talented to fail when they finally debut at the international level. so think twice before knocking them around. in a few years you will have to eat your words.
